Ok, now I'm probably jumping the gun a bit cos I've only been offered a telephone interview BUT...

What would you do if you were offered a really really nice sounding job with horses with good wages, pension/holiday etc but it meant relocating about 1hrs from where you lived? Bearing in mind that the reason I live here is because my family and my OH live here and I grew up in this town. I've moved around a lot and eventually decided to come home because that was where I wanted to be.

Plus points:
> Job sounds lovely, 4 horses and some youngsters (ponies) to bring on. Bit of hunting and lovely hacking on the moor.
> currently not enjoying either of my jobs, Riding School job is extremely stressful and am being consistenly taken advantage of and am very underpaid. Always loathed office job, just do it for £
> Very few decent grooms jobs where I live (Somerset) Everything seems to be racing/p-2-p which I'm not keen on
> although it is a groom/riding job, there are a couple of little ones to teach and I LOVE teaching and LOVE children
> Chance to work on quiet yard where no liveries are messing it up just as you've swept and everything is nice (oh god this is like a DREAM to me LOL)

relocating me, 2 dogs and the horse somewhere as job has no accomodation.

the other thing to factor in is that OH is working in Plymouth (thats Devon as well for all the non SWers!) and currently commuting so he might want to move as well at some point. But i don't want to depend on that as we have been together 7 months so much too soon to start making life decision together!

any thoughts? I don't want to be all YAY about the telephone interview if actually I'm gonna say No straight away.
 
Do the telephone interview and ask the questions which you have, like:

'I am extremely keen to continue to work towards my AI, would you support that?' (and if they say yes, ask how!).

You could keep your horse on a livery yard, so you wouldn't miss the hustle and bustle coz you'd have it outside of work.

TBH I'd do the interview anyway, I think it is always good practice to do interviews! It sounds like your dream job, if you take it and hate it, then hell, all you do is look for another one....
 
Totally agree with spotted cat. Do the interview and ask about anything you are unsure of.
Interviews should be a 2 way process - you decide if you like the job, they decide if you would be suitable. Remener even if you get offered a job you don't need to take it if you decide its not what you want.
 
If I was you, and the job is offered I would go for it! We all have to take risks and come out of the comfort zone that we create, and your's is 'I grew up in this town'......do it and you will find it all falls into place,after all if you don't like the job you don't need to stay there do you?Look at it as I gave it a chance,life is alot of 'what if's' and 'why's', and it could be you kicking yourself if you did not do it.......but, I think you Know that you need to do it if it is offered!

LOL that is the story of my life. I went to Uni at Leeds, then moved to London, then Bristol, then Wales... I came 'back home' about 1.5yrs ago because I wanted to settle down. And here I am thinking about uping sticks and moving again.

You are right though, life is about taking all the opportunities that come your way. I'm gonna do the interview first and then have a panic about possibly moving AGAIN.
