You had asked the price and been told "I'd like over £XK and then I'll include his saddle, bridle and some rugs" but you had then agreed a price of exactly £XK?
Nothing except a headcollar to keep particularly if they or transporters are delivering.
Meant to say, you obviously haggled but then the tack would only have been included if you paid over £xxx; as you paid under that, you can't expect the tack as well IMO. Anything they decide to chuck in is a bonus providing it's useful and fits in my book.
Saddle is 1 year old Thorowgood fitted and recommended by Mark Fisher as the best fit for him.
I mentioned "saddle and bridle" to the purchaser.
Would you be disappointed to receive the saddle complete with safety stirrups, girths and numnahs; a couple of bridles, one new but less good quality, one older better quality, each complete with bits and reins (snaffle and pelham) and the rugs that he has been using last winter - washed but not exactly brilliant?
no - not really - if you buy a horse you buy a horse not its tack unless negotiated with - and if they have changed the tack - you shold have agreed what saddle and bridle and stuff came with him before the price
when ive sold a horse - all their stuff goes with them - esp if they have had properly fitted saddle - as I want to make sure im sending them to a home in comfort and not wanting nothing but theres nothing wrong with selling a horse with nothing but a headcollar x
I've been caught out in the past having tried a horse and agreed to buy "all it's tack, rugs etc" with it only to find that the lovely Stubben saddle and matching bridle and boots I tried it in apparently belonged to someone else when I actually collected it! I did get a saddle and bridle but they were nothing to write home about.
In this case the purchaser has seen and tried the horse in the tack that they will be getting - they haven't seen the rugs though.
i declined the saddle, i want to get one i like and fits the horse properly, and just got a bridle (no reins) fleece, lightwight rug, old travel boots and a dressage numnah. i payed full asking price for the horse - but he is worth it
