Hiya just putting feelers out in case.
Rising 5
Gelding
16hh
Dark bay
Sire is a Billy Stud horse
AES with lots of good blood (Voltaire/ Concord )
Hacks alone or in company
Happy to canter or walk when out
Good in basic traffic (not seen buses yet but fine jcbs)
Good around farm machinery etc
Perfectly mannered on the ground
Well mannered in saddle but still very sharp and green
Absolutely amazing personality with kids / all animals / other horses
Lightly schooled (due to age going super slow)
Has large scar on ribs under saddle does not affect him but unsightly
Unshod (wears boots happily)
Quite handsome (apprantely) I can’t upload image as can’t resize as no idea how too!!
Thanks

Assuming conformation is A1, somewhere around £8-10k. I understand you have said scar doesn't affect him but it will play on buyers' minds as they don't know what affect it may have had to internal structures/during healing that may affect him down the road, and it doesn't sound like he's done enough to have stood up to the test of time post injury. He is also young and green and it doesn't say that he has been ridden off the yard as yet eg: arena hire or an in hand show or similar.

Hiya oh yes he’s been arena hire and in an indoor (hacked too) pole clinics and won a youngster in hand class at 3, won a walk and trot test November (his first test) jumps ditches and tiny logs out hacking Scar is 18 months old and he’s seen a serious body worker who actually made it move but totally agree and that’s a lot more then I paid for him!! Also loads and travels well! Thanks for answer.

In that case I'd say up to £13-15k if he's a really nice stamp. Safe, sane and seen a lot is so desirable!

If he’s seriously talented then horses of that description will be well into 5 figures and beyond. If he’s more a smart riding club sort then closer to the 5 figure mark. If he’s too sharp for an amateur but not talented enough to be taken seriously then you’ve a bit of a tricky one to move on.

I'd not pay more than 6k ish as you describe.

Big scar will put people off, as will age and the (very)

Impossible to say.
Depends on how he is put together, athleticism, ride ability. Is he going to nail the grassroots market, has he the scope for a professional, or is he an inbetween that doesn’t have a huge market.

Realistically the market is pretty dead. 6-20k depending on the above!
Probably an inbetween. I’d say he will absolutely excel riding club and for a brave amateur. A professional would probably make a lot of him. He’s the stamp of his site who won Burhley as both a 4 and 5 year old. I broke him myself but am not a pro rider and also broke bones in the process lol.

This makes sense. He’s too sharp for anyone worse than me if that makes sense. I don’t know how talented he is yet as not started jumping him- trying to hold out until next summer although he’s very tempting. Thanks for reply

I would say get him jumping under saddle- it would be more attractive if you are wanting to sell him as he is bred to jump with his breeding.
This is good advice but I bought him as a forever horse so have bone formation and longevity in mind, hence trying hard not jump him but circumstances may change and I might need to (definitely don’t want to) if I want to sell him. I’m actually hoping I don’t have too and it seems like it’s the wrong pot. In his education to consider this after I’ve put 2 years in already x

This, basically. He's a jumping bred horse so you really want him doing the job for good money. He looks a little conformationally challenged in front which will also put a few folks off.

the scar will worry some, but you may get somebody who prefers a nicely bred horse. I have never looked at breeding personally (other than my young appy) i was more interested in if the horse could do the job I needed. There are a lot of horses out there for good money without scars so you do need to factor this in.

If the current plan is for him to be a forever horse it seems sensible to continue to treat him as that ie no jumping yet
If things change and you decide you need to sell that's the time to get him jumping imo

Totally agree with this.
The slow production doesn't put off every buyer either. As long as the willingness is there. I think many of us are just worried when a 6yo doesn't jump it's bc they were overfaced early and injured/scared.
He's sharp and green NOW but I bet by the end of this summer he'll already have that much more maturity. Anyone who knows young horses would appreciate that too.
