Hi,

I have a 5 year old TB, he's a good do-er, and at the moment is slightly more round than I would like him to be, but I can still easily feel his ribs.

At the moment he gets 2 scoops of Alfa-A Molasses Free, a day, but since his workload is gradually increasing I feel like he needs more. I spoke to my farrier earlier and he said to keep him on the feed he is on, as if you add anything to a thoroughbreds diet, they can often become excitable? I've done some research and found that they way forward is a low sugar/starch diet, so can anyone advise what feed they would use?

According to my weigh-tape he is approx 520kg, and gets adlib hay.

I would also like to put him on a supplement for his hooves, as he is shod infront, but his hoof growth isn't the best. :)

Hope this makes sense :o

I have most of out horses on Equilibra and dry grass. They look great, are not hot and when they are hunting more they will have Tiger Oats added.

You need very little Equilibra so it goes a long way.

He's doing more work, I think within a week he'll be back to perfect size. He's by no means overweight, I'm just a bit OCD about his weight. And I was told the Alfa-A wont/doesn't provide him with all the nutrients he needs.

We've used the Equilibrium feeds with good success on a tb and a cob who goes fizzy on anything! (he's worse than the tb)

It's all fibre and oil so no cereals to fiz him up :D
They come in different energy levels depending on what work the horse is in as well from low energy, medium and high.
