What would you have done with this cut?

I would either purple spray it or lash on some betadine cream. It looks like a wee flesh wound. My old TB used to come in with some seriously bloody wounds - the vet never stitched him as it just traps infection. As long as it is isn't an injury from wire and the horse has its tetanus I wouldn't worry :)

I swear by vet wound powder for drying out cuts, would've hibiscrubbed and then VWP, looks superficial, if it got worse or wasn't improving within a few days, would've called the vet.

Not remotely this. The hibiscrub unless so dilute the water is just about pink will kill off healthy tissue as well as bacteria. The Sudocreme will block the tissue from healing and prolong the healing. So often a horse owners remedy and so incorrect and counter productive. Just for everyones future reference.

So why did my vet tell me to use sudocreme and said that it is the only thing to put on cuts? Sorry, but I'll continue to follow veterinary advice thank you.

Mine had one almost exactly the same this week!

No worries though. Washed it, hibiscrubbed it and put some tea tree cream on. It dried out and healed nicely.
