Basics (schools, cafe, tack shop) and luxuries (i.e. on site accom, vip boxes), if there was a big show would a club house for a damn good party be a big plus? Anything else you would like to see?
Answers on a postcard!

The bigger the school the better but a good surface is priority. Good organisation is another key element I would happily go somewhere with poorer facilities if I know it is well run, on time and generally well organised. Doesn't bother me if there is a cafe as long as there are refreshments available somewhere even if a burger bar o/s.

Nice warm toilets. Somewhere you can go to get warm. A proper announcement system so you don't have to be paranoid about missing the course walk.

I like venues that are clean and tidy, and get the scores up quick. Good food is a bonus, as is somewhere to sit. Large car parks are good, friendly organizers and a calm atmosphere.

Not too bothered about a tack shop as I always spend far too much.

Competent 1st aid.
Toilets that are hygienic.
Lorry park that does not look like it has been used by the Royal Artillery for gunnery practice.
Classes that start on time.
Controlled warm up areas.
Information system (boards, PA, etc.) that tells you what, when, etc.
Food available that is not fried and greasy.
If showers are provided, I prefer them to make me cleaner, rather than being so filthy that I come out with more dirt on me than when I went in.

basics
Nice large arena with good surface
Decent size warm up with good surface
Good lorry park not to far away from ring
Viewing area
Cafe that sells decent food
Good organisation- in warm up to

Luxuries
Nice showers that are clean
hook up
Deffo a club house/ bar to go to at night if at a stay away

Well I know its unrealistic but if they werent so bl**dy cold I would be a lot happier

Other than that, clean and well-organised - friendly always helps as well

Good size arena with good surface
Warm up with similar surface to arena
Jumps in warm up area that aren't cast offs
Car parks that aren't full of pot holes or mud slury covered
Competent steward that keeps things moving into arena
Toilets that are clean & have hot water, soap & toilet paper!
Cafe that serves edible food, hot & at a reasonable price
A tannoy system that you can actually understand what is said
No announcements on tannoy when someone is jumping.
No children putting up the jumps in the arena, so many times they run in front of horses!
& Most important:
NO MORE ABBA PLAYING OVER THE SPEAKERS

fancy stuff is a bonus but the simple things being right first would matter more to me...

good warm up with good surface - shocking how many places provide a dodgy practice area.

good arena and surface.

somewhere to watch from your horse - especially for SJ, i like to watch a few rounds b4 mine as im terrible at remembering courses!

plenty of room for all the horses to mill about so theres no horsey punch ups.

basics:
good loos
good parking
good size arenas
good size warm up area with the school rules (left to left etc) posted prominantly at the entrance and policed.
if overnight shows are being held then stables capable of takeing bigger horses, a 17hh horse simply does not fit comfortably in a 10x10 stable.
The surface to not be too deep.
Well lit
Tanoy system that can be heard in the lorry park

Luxurys:
shop
cafe selling a range of food including salads for those of us who dont want bacon butties and burgers.
warm seating for spectators
viewing from the cafe to the main arena.

You've just described Keysoe Conniegirl!!!

There is one thing I would like to see in Show Centres tho and thats GATES.... and that they are shut!! I've seen too many horses cantering off down the road with frantic owners running after them. It takes five seconds to open and close a gate!

I think of all the places i've been to, Towerlands has got just about the best. If I had to complain about anything there it would be the lorry standing not being tarmac'ed and the showers which are just poor. Everything else is good or excellent imo

Oh, perhaps one other thing......move it an hour or so further south

As a non-competitor, with a 2 hr journey to get there, I agree that Towerlands is an excellent venue. Having spent 3 days at the CSI, I made a point of asking the show secretary to thank the whole team, because they do such a good job in being helpful & friendly. It creates a happy atmosphere and it makes it enjoyable for everybody.
