I have an out of action share horse at the moment (recovering very slowly but surely from a bad bout of lami due to Cushings) and she's been out of work for maybe 18-20 months now (I can't actually remember!)

Its got me thinking now...I have a real 'want' to jump!! :o I used to be a fairly confident jumper and LOVED it and was doing really well with Kelly before she got ill. My confidence is now slowly waning as I can't do it half as often as I'd like and perhaps now haven't jumped at all in a few months - the last time being a bad jump when I fell off!! :o:p;)

I'd also love to follow/go (drag:o) hunting on a horse that I knew could do it I think it would be amazing!!

What would you love to do???

I'd love to go hunting, but I think my mother would disown me :o I think the highland would love it...

I'd love to ride a proper classically schooled school master too, though I'd probaby wreck it :o

I'd love to ride and jump my girly like i used to do. in fact id just like to ride her again one last time and appreciate it like it was my last time :) bit sad and mopey but that's what id love.

I'd love to try hunting but couldn't ever take my girl. Still doing everything else with my pony though.
Hows Kelly doing?

Kellys doing great :D she had a problem with her mouth (tooth caught in tongue...missed by vet...!!!) so sorted that, almost back to normal...then she rips a shoe off :o but its been put back on and she is out walking again, so we will see how she goes over winter. How's your girl?

JFTD - I think it would scare the crapola out of me but I still want to try it maybe!!
wattamus - that's lovely :) I would love to have a last ride on my previous pony too, I miss him x

I'm not up for any of the 5 bar gate jumping or anything, for the record  Certainly not on a 14,2 highland  Just tarting about looking smart at the back, desperately trying to keep up :p :D

Take my horse. My mother would only disown you if you fell off or overtook the master :p

At the moment I would really just like to ride my grey horse :)

Haha oh god me neither I'm not that brave!! A good blast and a few smallish jumps would do me quite nicely - but somehow, even when well, I can't see my 14.2hh stroppy, opinionated, horse-hating, diva-ish Sect D X mare going anyway :p

HA. Doesn't one fall "out of" a boat rather than off? Would that distinction work with your mother? :D

Is she backed yet? Other than the hock issues, obviously, I can't think how old she is...

That would suit me fine :p I think my lad would either kill me in his over-excitement or be so freaked out he barely moves

Hire horse for you? :D

I'd love to try hunting, as long as there was no death at the end :p I'd love to experience galloping across the countryside jumping hedges, but I doubt it'll happen for a while :p

I also have a 'need' to jump, but we have no facilities so I can't :(

Haha, would probably be a good idea....can you hire horses to hunt???

On second thoughts, I'd probably show myself up terribly :p

Tonty - we have an indoor and outdoor with jumps, and a jumping field...alas, no available horse!

No, when she did her hock (in March, can you believe) she was only just three. Now she is nearly four and is no further on due to being constantly bust! I had planned to have a sit before Christmas this year and then turn away until next spring but nothing doing! Will just have to start from scratch in the spring (assuming hock carries on going well!) instead.

And you have no idea how accurate your description of falling out of BH is! It's nearly as difficult to fall off him as it is to fall out of a boat!

I have a dream... it involves my grey filly wanting to be a dressage diva. :D So far I haven't asked her, her opinion on this. I guess I'll find out next year when she's backed. She'll probably want to do something totally different... like XC, which would not be good as I'm a terrible wimp. :)

You can in Scotland, and I think I met someone in the park down here who does it too. I know a guy who runs hunting weekends / minibreaks in Ireland too...

I wouldn't trust myself on a hunter - all that horse... I'm used to a wee pony I can get back on if I dismount unexpectedly :o

Oh that's typical. At least she'll be nice and mature and hopefully ready (injuries aside ) come spring. Are you doing it all yourself?

HA! I remember once crashing a punt into the side of the river and depositing one of the passengers who was standing at the time onto the bank  (Or at least, I think that's what happened, I can't say it's the clearest of memories, since I'd drunk my weight in pimms that day...) That's the closest I've come to falling out of a boat... I suspect it would be a hard manoevre to replicate on HMS BH?

Well, I crash HMS BH often. Like all long boats he is difficult to steer and as a novice skipper I do sometimes struggle. I don't usually carry passengers though so it is ordinarily ok and no lives are lost :)

Yep, I will be backing her myself. She won't be difficult I don't suppose.

I would love to gallop and jump every hedge on the hills with my beautiful black mare.

However following injury, just riding her for daily 10 minutes walks is a sheer joy at the moment.
Although with the lovely autumn sunshine we're having right now, the urge to fly is strong.

After dabbling in ponies for the last few years, I have just started riding again after a hysterectomy in March. The bug has definately bitten me again, and seeing as I have sorted out 'loan homes' for my ponies to ensure that they are kept in work for the time being, I think I will aim at getting myself a nice schoolmaster next year to do some local level stuff and pleasant hacking :)

Lol do you need a special license to pilot a ship like him, or is that only if he's used as a passenger vessel? Does he go well under sail, or do you need to use an outboard motor? :D

If she's troublesome, you could always take a baseball bat to the other hock so she can't protest? :p :D

That's how I feel now :D
Its amazing to have her walking out with us :)
But, its still a real want!

At the moment I just want to have something to ride! But I'd love to go round XC on a good schoolmaster type, although they don't have to be perfect, but sane and willing to listen would be top priorities!

The one thing I really regret never having done (and I am far too old now :p) is riding point to point.

Every P2P I go to - I am wishing I was one of the jockeys (and younger!) ;)

Please don't kill me for saying this, but my dream is to ride in the grand national!
Or ride in the cross country race at cheltenham :D

me too for hunting - we do have a Sydney Hunt Club. i would have to drive three or 4 hours each way to get to the hunt though, because it is not held in Sydney.

One day I would like to visit England again, hire a nice quiet horse, and tag along on a hunt for the day. Not sure it will happen though.

I'm working towards the Boxing day hunt this year, that is my target and its keeping me focused on exercising through the winter, I have hunted Eb's before but really want to ponse around for a couple of horse on boxing day on her :D JFTD, I generally tend to sport the 'hip flask' look

Last time I went hunting we were out for 4 hrs, it was the best ride of my life:rolleyes::D:D although whilst Eb's was fit as a flea, I wasn't, I hadn't ridden for 3 months, I literally couldn't walk for a week my entire body siezed up:eek: I vowed I would never do it again, and 2 years later I can feel myself being sucked back!
