On behalf of a friend - just want to know the general consensus.

16hh (poss 16.1) ID x TB grey (white) 12 year old.

Same home since 5 yr old. Has evented but intros only (though I think he won one or two) and that was a long time ago - not done much due to rider being too busy with other commitments. Is schooled & fit but no real comp record to speak of.

Good conformation, nice temperament, easy hack. Hunts. Usually gets 60 - 70% dressage (normally in the ribbons). Never been sick or sorry.

Thank you

Isit a gelding or a mare?

I have one on permanant loan he is 18 this year though, 16.2hh chestnut idxtb gelding, done eventing , and dressarge to a high level when younger, hunted most of his life, bombproof to hack alone or in company, very scopy , honest jump, does all lateral movements, very clean legs, not even a splint, good hard horse who would go all day. !00% box, clip and shoe. owners paid 2000 with tack and rugs when he was 16. He has Be points. Definatly dosn't move or act his age and is never stiff. Pus a lot of the younger horses to shame on our yard. he is also snaffle mouth, and still has a very nice soft mouth. Pulls up in a half halt and moves off the slightest leg command. Ive met dogs, motorbikes, buses all sorts on a hack and he has never battered an eye lid. Can also pass groups of other horses cantering and he dosnt fizz up about it.

Part exchange for a yearling??
,Just joking.... I would pay 3,000. Thats me, dont know
really what the market value, would be..
As long as he was good in all ways to handle, and loads, etc without bother. Sounds lovely,

Probably around 3k absolute tops.

Thanks guys.

I thought around the 3k mark.

We are buying, not selling.

Owner LOVES horse dearly but has greatly overestimated (IMO) the value of a horse that is 12 and has no comp record.

could be worth it's weight for a pony club teenager - I'd be marketing it heavily that way. I guess around £4k depending upon whether it can do other stuff, if it is a good hunter and could potentially show and do some workers. If it has problems other than slight spookiness or won't hunt then perhaps more like £3k .

Speaking from someone who owns something similar - if truly safe horse then he'd be worth up to £10k if it hunts.

Around here you'd be hard pushed to get a decent hunter for £5k let alone something that is schooled

£4-5k around here for a safe, schooled horse who has won affiliated eventing (even if a long time ago).

£3k around here buys you tap all.
