ok so we might look to breeding her in the future but what height,type or breed would you put my mare to she is 14hh,6yrs old, lovely temperment, belived to be an appaloosa x welsh cob (but there no proof)

If you dont know her breeding you will be in the same situation that I was in last year, you will have no idea what type of horse you will end up with. The best thing is to have an idea of what type of horse you would like to breed then find a stallion that stamps his stock with those attributes.
 
Hi, scroll down the breeding page to see my Welsh D x Appaloosa and her filly, by a Welsh D. I'm hoping that she will be about 15hh (Mum is 15.1, stallion is 14.2) and chunky enough to carry me!

Just a word of warning - if your mare throws a spotted foal, you won't be able to register it even as part bred appaloosa with the societys unless the stallion is an Appy. It will be registerable with the spotted horse and pony society (SHAPS). Although I have my mares 5 generation pedigree, she was never registered as an Appaloosa cross, so my foal will just be registered half Welsh D.
