Lucky me off on holibobs Sunday in Spain riding and dressage training :). Besides the obvious hat gloves boots, what am I likely to forget to take? Anyone else been on riding holidays, top packing tips please?

Thin layers that are rollable into a bumbag if you are trekking out at any point. Thinner jods, maybe a seat saver (depends on the saddles they use). I went for gaiters and jod boots as took up less room in luggage, but rigid enough if you are used to long boots. Sunglasses you can wear while wearing your hat are useful too.

Where you off to?

That is up the road from where I did my working holiday a few years back! Although I am sure the people I went to moved to San Ambrosio... There is a huge national park with some wicked fire breaks to ride up/down

There can be quite a breeze in that part of Spain, so worth thin layers/jumpers for early mornings and evenings. At least you will be the right side of the hills for when the sun goes down!!

If you get downtime to explore, I really rated Vejer - stunning views, and a really lovely Moroccan restaurant!

And if you do a beach ride, you might end up on the nudey beach :D

My sister came back from Spain yesterday. Not the same part as you, but in the south, and she had some rain, so take a light rain jacket just in case...

I've been on the Ride and Train twice - fantastic holiday :)

Main tip - carry your hat in your hand luggage. Sounds obvious, but. Comfortable jodhs or breeches, and while all or most of the LA horses have gel seat savers, I did wish I'd taken my woolly sheepskin one like someone else did. You won't need spurs. Take clothes for warmer and milder weathers - including a waterproof jacket and a couple of fleeces or jumpers. Even if you're lucky with daytime temps, they do drop in the evenings and when watching the others' lessons at Antonio's, it can feel cooler. Rhiannon will put a wash on during the week if you get very stuck for clean togs.

Nudey beach will not be frequented, don't worry! If there's anything in particular that helps you off a hangover, I'd pack that in case of an evening in Miguel's! Firebreaks are amazing - wait til you get to the Rollercoaster :D

I guessed as much - you'll have a great time. Andrew, Rhiannon, Rachel and Vinnie (and Antonio, oops) are lovely and will see you made very comfortable and with very good horses (a lot of them make their way back here - search for Los Alamos Ex-pat Horses on Facebook).

Sunnies packed, seat saver packed one waterproof packed and wearing one on plane. Oh and hat in rucksack/hand luggage. Thanks folks :)

How exciting, have lots of fun, I am off on hols a week tomorrow, not a horse holiday but hopefully a warm and relaxing one. I think quite a few places drop off cold at night now so dont forget to take some war evening wear :)
