what would you think if you saw this?

Umm, it's a dark colour, maybe bay? It's in a field. Umm. It 'might' be standing a bit oddly but it is only a split second in time. Not sure what else to say?

If I knew the horse and it was the right time of day for a snooze and this was a typical stance I would think snoozing, or if it wasn't typical behaviour I would check.

If it was a strange horse I would go over and take a look just in case.

Sore on the right hind perhaps?
But yeah- snooze time or awkward picture.. Bailey's pictures often turn out looking like he is a possesed obese alien who only ever stands on three legs!

I'd have a check at it, or shoosh it on if it were a strange horse just to see if there were any issues ;)

Yes I keep think he looks like a lami sufferer standing like that!

He has ring bone and ostioarthritis I'm both front legs.
When resting he stands with one leg out then the other.

He has had steroid injections over the last year plus cartrophen.
He is on devils claw.
Last injections into joint were 4 weeks ago.
But already it seems to have warn off.

Found out he has cataracts and floaters in both eyes.

Some days he seems very sad.
He is still hacked but after a gentle hack with a trot and canter last Saturday he was more stiff and sore than normal for about 3 days after.

:-(

Dont know what you want really but he is standing rather uncomfortably, resting diagonally with the front leg significantly in front of him and pointing.

Does he ever lie down to rest either in the field or stable, if he is alone he may prefer the "safety" of a stable for a while each day to really rest in with a good bed so he can lie down if he wants to.

He may be better on danilon rather than devils claw if he is stiff.

Yes he looks rather uncomfortable,I'm just sad it seems severe so quickly after the last treatment.

He has been on the devil claw for a good 6 months, I have danilon which he has as extra but I need to discus the long term use of both of upping the dose.
He was coming in at night, I don't think he lies down.
I do seem him lying down in the field, usually alone dispite having 14 field companions.
But he stayed out last night and was the same this morning.

I will speak to the vet tomorrow.
I was thinking I was worrying too much but I know he is uncomfortable and its better to be over cautious.

Have to agree that it does look like lammi - best to get him off the grass until a vet has seen him if you do suspect he has lammi.

With the injections he had it could bring on a bout of lammi, but there are no other symptoms so I think its more to do with his problems.

This stance had been one if the symptoms through his diagnosis and treatment, so its not a new thing.

It just seems to be more obviouse and severe and and so soon after his last treatment.

Do you know what kind of steroid injection she had? When one of mine had his injections I remember my vet telling me that many of the steroids used had a really short lifespan so to speak as they would sort of diffuse out of the joint really quickly, even within a matter of days. He used a really new one on mine that was supposed to last a lot longer (and two years later I'd say its only just starting to wear off). Perhaps that could be a cause? Have you tried checking his digital pulse just so you have more of an idea whether it may be lammi masquerading as his usual stance symptom?

Too me he looks the wrong way round for a lami, he is almost putting weight on the front? Rather than away from it? - But it does look very laminitic :s
He isn't pinned back onto his hocks like what a *traditional* sufferer would do but all horses are different- mines when he gets laminitis tends to get fully on all fours rather than just the fronts.

All the best with him poor lad.
