What would your dog choose?

Santa has made his annual visit to Dogs Trust in Dublin and each dog was sent to pick a toy.

Fodhla only has eyes for balls and sticks, so I'm not sure the others would get a look in. She also likes to love a stuffed toy to literal death but only when the humour takes her.

What about your dog?

The old one would savage each and every one individually and the place would look like a bomb had hit it and people would be running away, screaming.

Middle one loves sticks so anything stick-like, probably that big red yoke.

Little one likes small, squishy balls, but would probably prefer some nice biscuits, thank you.

Bless them, they look so happy! I love Jessie, very discerning. And the wee terrier picking the duck that is bigger than him. And Nero trotting along all puffed up! And Queenie wanting All The Things.

Nero has a serious swagger about him.

I was very taken with Queenie and Ida, I wonder if either of them would like to live with a pampered sprointer (does that sound ridiculous I found the term on Instagram?) and an overbearing Ma.

@sportsmansB she is welcome anytime to take squeaky toys off my dog I cannot cope with them!

She absolutely hates him playing with them, she's normally so placid but it makes her mad. So mad that her lower jaw starts to quiver. She's still the boss even though he grew up bigger, and she just takes them off him and hides them behind her and basically dares him to try and get them back!
To be fair he doesn't seem to care whether something squeaks or not, he just tries to destroy them whatever

I absolutely love these videos! I was only watching last years the other day.

The terrier would check there’s no mice hiding, then she’d tell everyone not to be so stupid and flounce off. The German Shepherd would just shred the lot, until she found something so boring that nobody else wanted and she’d have that. Her current favourite toys are a tyre from a mobility scooter and the best one, an empty horse snack ball which she spends hours carrying around (she can undo the screw lid to give her something to hold it by ?).

Phoebe would take a small ball, particularly if there's one that squeaks.

Dee would go for something small, soft, stuffed and squeaky, and would immediately dismember it.

Eira would find the noisiest toy in there and then would just walk round making noise with it. So probably that noisy pig thing that one of the dogs in the video picked up

Oh that was such a sweet video. It's amazing how specific most of them seemed to be (well the ones shown on the video anyway) and really seemed to go through them to pick out a favourite.

I just hope they all get a home soon that's full of their favourite toys.

I'm loving hearing about how everyone's dog likes to play! Fodhla also loves to love the rags/carcass of toys she's destroyed. Warms the heart as when we got her she didn't really know how to play, so we had to teach her (and to not connect with skin while doing it!).

Just watched the video again and might have shed a tear, echo what @Squeak said, I hope they're all in homes soon!

Goose likes a squeaky toy and endlessly squeaks it then destroys it and eats the squeak. Mitch likes whatever Goose has plus sticks. Bear would have a good sniff then go and find someone’s feet to sit next to.

I’d quite like the whippet that bounces round, extremely cute-Jasper.

I love how Cash tested the bite feel of each toy. He knew exactly what he was after.

Henry would sniff them all to determine how many other dogs had been there before selecting something fluffy
