Yous might remember my earlier posts about my horses being sold and one took to slaughter. Well ive got an update now.

Yesterday my DH and me arrives back to find presents etc lying in our garden that we had given my cousins mother etc over the years. We received messages from them letting us know what heartless b******s we are. How my cousin spent the day at hers crying.

Today we get a visit from my cousins bf's parents. Offering us £15k to drop the charges. This is alot more that the horses etc, however i have refused it. Its now been established that he had intented to sell the horses from the minute they were in his care. Have to give a full formal statement on Wednesday and then the ball starts rolling!!

I'd say hit them where it hurts. Although £15k is very tempting, don't do it! You're fighting for others too ( no pressure!) scum like them need to be taught a lesson. Obviously it up to you though. Good luck in your decision

No ive refused it point blank, there was no thinking needed. Yes it was tempting but it means he will get off scot free and maybe do it to someone else!

Police said they will be looking to take him under the charge - intent to deceive or something. I was too wired up to really listen - i know i should.

Ive got loads of pics of the horses around the house now. Doctor gave me anti depressants, as i really cant handle what happened to Mo

If he has a criminal record, great, but for a first offence I can see him getting away with it.....

Not sure why, just a gut feeling,..... the police farce in this country is crap!!!

£15k is an awful lot of money, which immediatly throws the "im sh*t scared of the consequences" into the equasion. by the sounds of it if you take legal action they are up poocreek. do what you have to do and you have our support all the way.

Surely that is conspiracy to pervert the course of justice?
Did you tell the police that they had offered you money?

Oooo thats a much better idea, even if they don't get done for original charges thats a whole seperate offence, plus it gives leverage i.e. somthing to hide

This springs to mind. Best of luck with your case

It's not the Police, it's our legal system.....

I remember before his mum saying that she paid his way out of trouble. So unsure if he has a criminal record. Even if he does get a slap on the wrist, its worth it. Hopefully it will mean he will be too scared to try this again.

His mum said that surely i could buy another few horses with the money. Tried explaining to her that it wasnt about money, have told the police who said i need to put that in my statement on wednesday.

Police are actually being great about it, its actually the sergent (probably spelt wrong) that is dealing with this!!

Glad you haven't accepted the money, good for you to stand up for what's right. The comment about just going and buying some more, just says it all really.
Not quite understanding why your cousin is upset and why you have been branded heartless whatsits, have i missed something?
I hope he gets what is coming to him.

(what does DH stand for?)

Yup, completely agree.
I would think hard about this. If he gets a decent solicitor he may get off with nothing. At the most he may get a fine or a bit of community service.

Well they can clearly afford it, but i dont want the money. Its like accepting what he did was right.

Im called heartless because the day after i phoned the police my cousins grandmother died. So police arrive at their door and i branded a heartless b***h. Tried explaining that i called the police the morning before but im told where to go.

I very much doubt i will buy another horse again ever. I wont leave here though, yous have restored my faith in horse people. Before i thought they were pure utter evil people. I know not all are like that, but ive seriously not met more nasty people than i have since starting horse riding again

Poor you! Time is a great healer and if this boyfriend is such a waste of space the relationship probably won't last anyway.

My husband was badly beaten by someone at Christmas, he's nearly 70, but the cps dropped the charges due to lack of witnesses. It seems as if they're concentrating on young people committing serious crimes. I admire your morals but will you be sick that you didn't take the money if the law doesn't do anything much?

They say hindsight is an exact science but with the benefit of that I would ask for time to think about it. I'm not callous, would hate to se him do it again but I do know how you'll feel if things go pear shaped. It's an awful lot of money that could help you in many ways. Just sometimes we can be a bit selfish you know.
