OH went to pick up our horse who has been on trial, (guy has only just realised he can't afford the horse, typical!), it's about a 3 hour journey from us. Anyway, OH calls me 'Tom's in his stable. But you know what, I'm not sure it's Tom.'

What?!? Apparently he was chatting while the stable lass loaded him up, just saw a dark bay backside parked on the trailer, now he's unloaded him he thinks he's too big! I'm sure it's the right horse but can you imagine if it's not, I'll be :D:eek::rolleyes: all at once!!

Going down in a bit to check on my new horse :D Anyone else got an OH as daft as mine?

Here's hoping its Tom. My hubby told me the other day that juniors pony had changed colour. This resulted in a very confusing conversation as said pony is at a friends yard. As it turned out he had been stroking the foal. Bless him.

If it's a better horse I might not say anything :D

This isn't the first time he's done something like this, last year we bought some horse from Ireland, transporter was bringing them from Dublin, dropping some off in Milan, then on to us, then to our friend's who'd bought a grey pony and chestnut giraffe (well he looked like one!). When transporter arrived I was teaching so OH met him and took the horses. The guy had put them on the lorry in the wrong order though, so had to get pony and giraffe off first, OH calls me and says I need to go and check the horses as he thinks they're the wrong ones! When I got to the stables the guy was white as a sheet, trying to explain to OH that in Milan they had taken all horses off the lorry and there was a bit of confusion. Needless to say he was very relieved to hear the horses were exactly the ones we (and our friend) were expecting! I wouldn't mind but OH had never even seen the bleddy horses before, so how would he even know if they were the wrong ones!?!

You've got to laugh haven't you?

When I bought my first horse, my first day of ownership I toddled off to the field to bring in my new horsey................and brought the wrong horse in :D

To be fair I wasnt wearing my glasses and they did look almost exactly the same...but still, never lived that one down and it was 9 years ago

can't you get him to take a photo on his phone and send it to you?

Neither of us are that technologically advanced :D He hasn't even got a camera on his phone!

The yard is only a 5 minute walk but it's freezing so I'm waiting for him to get back with the car (has gone to friends to drop off trailer). I have Lazyitus which is being cured with a glass or two of vino :).

brilliant!

My friends husband brought her horse in for her. Only for me to come up And find my boy in his friends stable lol. To be fair. They look like twins although my boy n a hand bigger lol

Hevs it's not quite the same but mine and my YMs horses look very similar and the Saturday girl at the yard told me yesterday that she had once caught Max (my horse) thinking he was Trip and then realised he was a bit small. The ironic thing is my horse is fairly impossible to catch for everyone except me and my other YM so when she wants him she can't catch him and when she mistakes him she can catch him first time!

Ummm many years ago a friend moved and asked if i could deliver her pony for her, i had the description, flea bitten grey, only one in the field.
Arrived at field, dropped ramp, walked up field, caught pony, took it back to our yard for the night for an early start next morning, went home only to have hubby come in a few hrs later to say ''whos the new pony'', ''Thats Blue says i''........''thats not Blue'' says he....
Omg, panic stations, rang said friend only to find out a new pony had arrived at field, and yes, i had taken the wrong one!!
Damned rush to get it loaded late at night and swopped for right pony before owner found it missing, lol.

Just got back from the yard and drama is over as there was my gorgeous boy all snug in his stable :) To be fair the horse is a dark bay TB, so not particularly distinctive, but he definitely hasn't grown!

Glad we could have a laugh, I'll pass these stories on to the lovely Lorenzo so he knows he's not the only one :)

I've had the opposite :) Took a bright chestnut out for a ride and passed some workmen on the way out but they were in their van on the way back. Then took a much bigger BLACK horse out and they were still having their break, and on the way back they were vack at work and chatted to me clearly thinking that I was on the same bright chestnut horse as they had first seen me on :D

Many years ago my dad 'helped' me out by bringing in my old TB as I was working late, I then got a call from him saying 'Con's rug doesn't fit has he got another one?' I told him to try his best and I would sort it after work. I arrived at the yard 2 hours later to find my friends 16hh Cleveland Bay x cob mare happily munching on hay whilst my 17.2 TB gelding was shivering in the field  To be fair to my dad they were both bays, I told him next time to peak underneath :D

I've had my 16h bay mare seven years, and my husband's 17h chestnut gelding for 5 years, yet my mum always says hello to my mare when I ride past on the gelding!

The first riding school that I worked at had two very similar ponies, and for the first two months, whenever I went to catch one for a lesson, I was never sure that I had the right one!
