Had some harry hall ones and they've come apart (despite being reinforced oddly), much too late to take them back (had them for a year) I'm pretty sure a pair should last me more than 60 lessons to be honest, does anyone know a brand that lasts a bit longer (and for the record this is the second pair of harry hall jods that have done this, maybe I just rip them apart in my sleep?)

Maybe its the shop I bought them from or something (maybe they have moths?) I don't know, but anyway I like riding in jods and would like to know what brand will be worth my money :) (not really bothered about colours or anything like that my last pairs where both plain beige colour)

any suggestions would be cool :)

Jeffries. Great fit, material, range of colours, high waisted at the back(I like that, some people don't but def comfier&warmer in winter!) and the lower leg is in stretchy, cooler(but durable) material,so fit great under long boots or chaps. I live in mine:)

Tesco heavy duy jods off the Tesco Direct site are amazing. Cheap, nicely cut, comfy and last forever. When I first discovered them it took me ages to get round to buying a new pair so I lived in one for six weeks riding in them every day (I did wash them!) and they are still good as new :)

I think it also depends on your shape. I bought some Premier Equine ones which were fine on the waist/hips/bum, but way too tight on the calves - and I'm quite in proportion...

I have 2 pairs of Rugged ones which are excellent. They've got stretchy panels on the outside of the leg and are checked (not to everyone's taste I know, but I'm pretty sure you can get plain) and are extremely comfy and very reasonably priced on eBay at about £40. They wash brilliantly too and have a full micro-suede seat.

I also swear by Cavallo, but they are pricey.

I tried some Equitech, fine on the waist but baggy on the legs which isn't a good look either and the seam doesn't sit nicely, it's right on my knee so quite uncomfy! So they're my mucky work ones ;)

Hy performance are brilliant. I've got two checked pairs that were about twenty quid each. Google them well worth a look

Also sherwood forest also are quite stylish without paying silly hkm prices

I have the Tescos heavy duty ones as well and there great. Wash well and comfy. I'm 5 ft 11 and a size 12 and there a great fit, plus only £17! I'm going to get another pair. I haven't tried any other brands mind so nothing to compare it too.

i'm a big fan of fouganza from decathlon. i'm a shorty but find i can turn the bottoms up and still have the knees in the right place. there about £20 and my first pair are still going strong 3years or working on yards and having my own later!

They're in Ireland, but TRI do own brand jods and breeches called Turfmasters - really comfy and hard wearing, reasonably priced, wash up well. I love them for everyday; at about €36 a pair for the basic model, are well worth it even with shipping factored in.

Another vote for the tesco heavy duty jods. I have about 4 pairs they last about 3 years worn daily, washed just as often, ridden in, chores done in them. I wouldnt buy any other make. Especially when they are only £17 and I usually buy them with my club card points as well. It a shame they dont make them in white and then I could use them to compete in as well. I use loveson jods to compete in.

I've got a couple of pairs of Sherwood Forest that have been pretty good - my legs aren't that long and they're one of the makes I can get to fit really well too.

Oh dear, I just went to look at my jods out of interest and I seem to have 12 pairs :o That's a bit sad isn't it, am I an addict?
