As the title says really. What's Aldon BE event like? XC/SJ layout etc.
Trying to plan my season and wondering if I could go there as a first run as I don't particularly like Bath and West. I ALWAYS get blooming lost getting there and it's a long way of the motorway

I'm talking about the PN course

Really nice.

Dressage arena for the PN are on a slight slop and can be slightly rough but nothing horrendous. N and above do dressage on the rugby pitch which is very nice.

Show jumoping is a big flat arena fences usually up to height and can be a bit spooky with trade stands around two sides.

XC is hilly certainly need a fit horse. Asks reasonable questions at each level and has two waters. Great viewing course you can see about two thirds of the couurse from the start area.

Generally a nice educational event. Going is never deep can cope with a lot of rain. My one nit pick is there can be some rabbit holes on the back part of the course and particularly on the extra Intermediate loop.

Hi SJ

Thanks for that. I certainly pay attention to what you say as I'm sure it was you that advised me to pull out of Chetl last year as it is always hard ground there. As I came out of the sj after being eliminated I wished I'd listened to you and saved myself the trip

Sounds promising although I'd better get my sj up to speed. Same old problem and there's me thinking I'd be doing loads of BSJA by now

Fitness shouldn't be a problem as there's loads of hills around here.

Not always cold and wet!! the spring event of '05 was dry and hot!!

Spring 06 was dry as well but the start was delayed because of the frost and the water jump had frozen! We also stayed in the lorry that night and I swear I have never been so cold!

I hate Bath and West but so close stupid not to go! Aldon is fine - nothing too challenging 2 water jumps, corner, 2 combinations and a bank. Charlton Park is a lot harder.

Probably going to hitch up the Lucy and Co for some of the furthest ones but if going independently long distances would be good. Where you planning on going?

Why doesn't anyone like Bath and West?

I don't I find it hard to get going on the XC and find it doesn't flow as it's lots of turns etc. I been twice and it just doesn't suit me and as it's 2.5 hours away for me it doesn't seem worth it. I usually go just because it's the first one.
Thanks guys for the advice. The thought of outdoor jumping at the moment is a million miles away becuase of the weather!
