Whats 'Cuddy'???

Hi There

I might be being really stupid but I regularly read in H&H about 'Cuddy Champion', Cuddy winner etc etc and have no idea what 'Cuddy' actually is???

I assumed it was a welsh pony thing as it often seems to be them that win but this/last week a hunter type won it.

I googled but no avail!!

Can anyone tell me what cuddy is? its driving me insane!!

In Scotland is the name for a horse The same as neddy. Don't think it's right in the context you're talking about though.

The Cuddy is an in hand championship that has the final at HOYS - its hard to qualify for - i think you have to win your class then come champion. Its open to all sorts of breeds & types, hence why m&ms & hunters can win it. Hope that makes sense!!

It is a fantastic class (or classes, there are 2 of them for horses and ponies) to watch at HOYS as it really does showcase the best of the best breeding wise - I'd say it is the hardest final to qualify for at HOYS, the horses that qualify are absolutely outstanding. I love looking at them in the H+H.
