The local firework display is about 2 miles away but the noise carries right over to our yard and the fireworks are visible.

Usually I leave out so they can see what's making the noise and not fret but am always worried about them running through fences if they do get too scared so am in two minds what to do!!

What's everyone else doing??

Leaving out. I just think Id rather have my mare break a few fences than end up breaking through a stable door or falling over. Tough call though. Stupid fireworks! Can think of better things to spend money on!

Bringing in, but they have been coming in anyway as mine has had mud fever. In October :( their field is like grass soup. We have six massive displays locally tonight but last year the horses were fine with it and I don't suppose they'll worry this year! Wishing everybody a stress-free bonfire night :)

ours have been coming in for about 3 weeks now but they aren't or should i say wern't scared of fireworks until yesterday... so they will be in before dark tonight but they were fine in the stables last night after everything that happened so hopefully they will be okay :)

Yes, read about your eventful evening. Unbelievable how ignorant, or just downright evil, people can be. What would have happened if you'd been kicked or trodden on by a frightened horse!! The Police I'm sure would be interested then!! But it should't have to come to that for something to be done.

Leaving out, they live out all year, if they aren't used to a few bangs by now, they never will be!

They have a massive field, so should be able to run about safely if they want to

im not even sure they would have been interested then as we were down in the field at the time and could have been easily hit by the firework ourselves so i dont think thye want anything to do with it! you would have thought they would have sent a patrol around to have a look though! down right ridiculous!

My 3 are left out too and have been fine in previous years! Fingers crossed they are this year too. I'm kind of in the country so in the lead up to bonfire night we don't have much going on around but a family very near have two children both born on Nov 5th, so every year they have a bit of a celebration. They notify me of this, which is nice, and let them off all together so once its finished thats it. No wondering if they'll start up again at midnight! Hope everyone is safe tonight.

Bringing in but only because he's in at night at the moment due to not much grass. Nearest display is 3miles ish not sure if noise carries as only been on yard since june. There are houses quite near by but think he'll be fine, he can get upset by things but hopefully as long as he has plenty of hay he'll be happy.

If I knew there was a big display really near I'd stay with him, after my other pony being terrified by a display that was probably 100-150m from his stable! He was on box rest and the yard we were on was right next door to a private school that always had a display, there was a massive wall between yard and school field but he could still see bits and all the fireworks and noise. Which was usually fine as all horses went out down the other end of the village, we thought he would be ok as he's so chilled out nothing bothers him. He was in the nearest stable as it was biggest and he couldn't get into his own stable with his bad leg, plus he would of still been able to hear everything anyway. Was the most upsetting thing I've ever seen.

Out. We have a big display near by, but my oldie couldn't care less & the others follow suit. Biggest danger to mine is a stray firework setting something on fire, so safer out.
