What's everyone doing with their horses in this wind?

We're forecast up to 100 mph winds today and although I'm usually a stickler for pony being out regardless of weather (he was pretty much the only horse turned out at our yard when the snow hit) I'm actually quite happy for him to be in today for fear of him being injured by flying debris (we're surrounded by forests) or hurting himself by hooning about in the field. That said, I suppose there is also a risk to the stable block if wind's are as bad as forecast - they have predicted structural damage as a result of winds.

So what's everyone else doing with their horses?

I haven't turned out in the paddocks at all since the wind started this week. But I am turning out in the all weather. The horses all get 3 hours out in the all weather with haynets. What I hate most though is the bringing in. When you have a field full of horses all competing to come in first, it can get pretty hairy, especially when you are on your own.

Mines been turned out since 7am.. Probably galloping around like a nutter as per usual
A few have stayed in, but most are out.. They will get brought in at dinner if it's too windy.

Mine are out at the moment, but will be in around lunchtime. They are normally much happier out full time but in this they seem happy for a quick leg stretch and back in for a rest!

Mine are out because I can't ride as home with poorly daughter so they got left in there turnouts last night and i just shots down flung the doors open and gave them strict instructions to behave like grown ups despite the wind!

I have kept my two in, normaly I put out in all weather regardless but we live in a very windy spot at the best of time so I'm dreading what it will be like later! I'm two can get a bit naughty coming in from the field & oh sprained his ankle yesterday so I have no help so decided it wasn't worth fighting with them! I am also full of the cold/ cough!! Fingers crossed not as bad as forecasted!!
We have had a lot of rain & if it freezes tonight could be very dangerous!!

I've heard from Y/O that it's really bad at the yard - I'm a few miles down the road and I seriously think my back garden fence is about to blow over! Pony is in with a hay net and a treat ball. Hopefully it doesn't get any worse!

Mine are in. My useless one took one look out and refused to even come out of the stable to even be mucked out! (he has...issues...and many health problems...imknow from experience that to try amd force him, is to get hurt!)

T'other one went out briefly, mooched, stood by the gate looking like he was trying to hang on for dear life, and then scurried back inside gratefully when I decided to get him in!

Don't care if I'm turning them intoma pair of pansies, they like being spoiled and coddled, and I like spoiling amd coddling them!

Hopefully if it just stays as wind, amd doesn't rain, the fields should dry out a bit!

Mine's out as several years ago the stable roof blew off in severe gales leaving huge beams collapsed in the stable, they would have been seriously injured if kept in. That being said I just hope that there isn't too much debris blowing around outside either.:(

All mine are out, the majority are out 24/7 anyway.. .they're out in big open fields so unlikely to be hit by any flying objects! My main worry is me doing the mucking out in the wind..very bruised arm alreadfy after getting caught by door while pushing wheelbarrow out!

Ours aren't too bad in the wind, just a lot happier to come in when it's bedtime! Funnily enough, the only horse that gets very wound up in the wind is the one that refuses under any circumstances to be stabled, so she's whizzing round the field as we speak  They do have 2 nice solid shelters in the field to hide in too, and i'll be tying haynets up to the fences to stop it all blowing away. The ones that are in overnight are still in (they're usually out at about 8) but i'll be putting them outside in about half an hour.

Mine are out. They live out 24/7/365 anyway. I'm just trying to deside weather to ride or not. Wind wasn't to bad here earlyer but is steadly getting worse. I just checked the weather and it says 40mph winds for us. I'll happly ride in the rain but wind is one type of weather I do worry about.

Typical, I'm just back from yard, freezing and soaked to skin, and its now clear skies and wind has eased up.

Ponies didn't take their heads out their buckets and when they finished and lifted their heads, their buckets blew down field with ponies chasing after them :D

I nearly lost the poopscoop when it went flying. Ponies are out 25/7, unrugged and although standing tucked up in field, they did mooch around a little. I toyed with putting rugs on as they looked miserable but in fact both ponies were toasty warm :/

Out, theyre always out. They were down in the valley last I saw of them, out of the wind. We lost a stable roof once in high winds as well Touchstone, not as bad as yours sounds though!

Mine is out thankfully. I live on the west coast of Scotland - Red alert area :( - and several roads round here are already closed due to flooding and the high winds - including two that I need to use! Don't think I'll make it to the stables today......... :(

Mine are out. They always go out and are not really bothered by the wind. Will go up earlier today to bring them in if it gets really bad.

Ginger horse is in; if he was meant to be in the field I would have put him out regardless, but he is only having turnout in the school at the moment due to injury and there is no shelter. It is absolutely torrential rain here as well, all the local roads are flooded so he's happy in munching his hay.

Mine are normally out whatever the weather - even if it's only for a couple of hours, but today has to be one of the worst I have seen. The river has burst it's banks and the fields which were already wet are now just bogs. My friend was going to turn mine and hers out this morning and I was going to bring them in later as I'm off work, but the farmer has said we're not allowed to turn out today. To be honest I don't blame him and I wasn't going to turn out anyway. It's really awful. The two and a half year old did a bit of lunging for only the second time. I forgot my gloves, pony pees off and my left shoulder is now pulled. I took the TB mare for a walk round the school in hand as she's off work and then decided to walk her down the drive. Car went past the end of the drive, she reared up (she's bombproof in traffic, but has been off work for a while, so having a small brain she's clearly forgotten what cars are!) spun round and pulled my right wrist. So I then decided enough was enough, attempted to close the huge, heavy barn doors outside my stables and the big metal handle slammed into my thigh - very painful. I am now home and not going out again until later - it's clearly going to be one of those days!!

Mine are out 24/7 as my 2 year old destroyed the fence next to the field shelter which i use as a stable so have had to shut them out until it gets fixed. They are both rugged and happily munching hay at the moment, wind seems to be coming from the west just now so we are quite sheltered as they have a big banking to that side of their field. :)

Mine are out 24/7. Came into their stables last night to be fed and couldn't wait to get back out to behave like hooligans. Even the big hairy one was cantering round bucking and plunging and thoroughly enjoying himself.
Hacked two out this morning, all good, job done.

mine are out today and they will come in as usual around 2-30 3 pm as they were yesterday they get more het up being left in one one of mine stays in at the moment

Mine have gone out as usual and will come in at night as usual. They're all used to wind like this, they seem to be a bit more 'wired up' but I just shove the big warm rugs on and chuck them out :p
