What's everyone doing with their horses in this wind?

Mine is out today in his restricted paddock (mud bath with concrete area in middle tbh!) as I tucked it next to the hedge when putting it up knowing he would be there in winter. i would imagine he's bum to the wind and eating, managed to ride this morning (8am) before the wind hit leeds really.

Others are out probably either behind the hay store, in the field shelter or tucked in the gorse bushes (so they can fill their coats with burs  ) or just grazing in the field - likely the 2yo - he doesn't give a stuff about the weather, probably because he looks like a cow and is a barrel on legs (in a good way!) atm :D

Roof blew off our field shelter years ago, its still has the hoofprints on the inside where htey obviously had a ball walking all over it - now safely (I hope!) pinned down - belts and braces job :)

I am lucky 2 more ( after) 5 years learnt to put themselves to bed

so i bring in one with a head collar and whos stable is 40 feet from gate the rest i open the gate they know their pecking order and they all walk or trot into their correct stables i just shut the doors as their dinner is already in. They all turn themselves out to . so catching in is quick :D

Mine is out thankfully. I live on the west coast of Scotland - Red alert area :( - and several roads round here are already closed due to flooding and the high winds - including two that I need to use! Don't think I'll make it to the stables today......... :(

Yeah it is horrendous here today.

Ours are all in for the day. Big solid barn stables so they should all be fine :)

Hovis is out and has been since 0730.
I felt a tiny twinge of guilt when i took off his lovely warm PJs, swapped his rug to a turnout and dragged him outside into the howling wind, driving rain and the darkness.

But then i reminded myself he is a horse, he will not shrink and he will be coming back in at 4pm to a nice warm bed, 2 haynets and his dinner.

Perhaps i am just a very mean mother :p

It's very windy here but the wimp of a mare is out rugged up, it's not raining so she'll be fine. It doesn't tend to bother her too much and I'd rather she was with her friends then in by herself panicking about noises

Had it been raining with this wind, she'd be in - she's fully clipped and she'd have company then, but as it is, she's out till 5pm today

all out and will stay out. the exmoors just ignore it all, big horse is rugged and would probably rather be in except yard is on exposed hill, paddocks are sheltered by said hill so it's not as bad down there. it is wild though, chooks aren't liking it much.

Mine live out all year round and are fine in this weather
I feed them away from trees etc incase
I have had a bad experince with keeping horses in with weather like this , a pony had its back broken from a stable that had collapsed in weather like this

Lobbed mine out at 7 this morning, just been back & taken big Fuzzy for a hack.
Brilliant :D both of us alert, listening to the trees creaking & groaning, made for a sparky zip round :D

Made both fuzzies even happier than usual as on return I opened up a small paddock (tiny one) which is a spring diet paddock for little fuzzy.
Its been rested too long & has quite a bit of grass in it, they will be fine in there till tea-time :)

out, sure he won't blow away even though his field is on the side of a mountain. Just driven past and he had his head down munching with his buddy so don't think particularly concerned about the wind.

Mine is out and has been all night. Feel guilty slightly but he's rugged and has company. I'd be more concerned if he was in with the stables etc he can't get away if the wind did blow the roof off!

Probably bring him in for the night though around 7pm with the forecast of snow looming...

Mare and 10 month old foal are out and have been through most weathers like this recently. Debated stabling them tonight but with two of them in a stable figured it might not turn out so good if things get wild and they have nowhere to run! They have a nice big field to run about in tonight should they want to but have spent most of their day along the hedge line eating and rolling about in the mud! Altho they did appear for some food this afternoon! Always thinking of their tummies!

I've left mine out, he is at his most happiest out, and isn't generally a 'wasting energy by running around type'. He came in for an hour or so this afternoon for his dinner though.

Mine have been in since Tuesday - it's not safe to turn out in these winds and also our fields are very wet as we have had quite a few heavy rain showers.

Nothing changed to my mooses routine out early as normal, I actually rode late this afternoon and considering normally she is a spooky monster  she was an absolute saint in the howling wind and driving wind

I must admit we don't have the weather as bad as up country although it is still pretty miserable ...

Mine was out after a friend rode (she said he was fine) so I went to catch in and he was very jumpy. I unclipped him and let him caper up on his own, although he wanted to be on my knee, the big lump. The tree moving was particularly scary

Mine spent the day alternating between sheltering behind the hay shed and going in to their stables (my stables are in my field) to munch hay. They didn't venture out to eat grass at all which is most unusual.

Now all tucked up inside stables, munching contentedly despite the wind still howling. Just glad we have no trees near us. Lights are flickering still but hopefully the power will stay on as thought the worst should have passed us by now?

I have just been out to hay water and skip out . I had leave the muck by the doors as it would not have stayed in the barrow. I am not going back out later it's terrible I struggled to get the doors open.
