What are you having for dinner tonight? I am in between jobs so have some time on my hands. Knowing today/tonight was going to be cold, I made chilli this morning and it's been bubbling away on the hob all day . . .

350g stewing steak
150g lean beef mince
1 red chilli
1 onion
2 cloves garlic
1 packet Old El Paso chilli mix
1 huuuuuge can chopped tomatoes
tomato puree (I use double concentrate)
1 can kidney beans in chilli sauce
water

Sear stewing steak (in batches) and set aside. Cut onion in half. Blitz half the onion, one clove garlic and the red chilli in the food processor. Dice the other half of the onion and sautee until golden - add the mince and brown. Add the red chilli sauce paste and soften. Add the chilli mix, heaped tablespoon of tomato puree, canned tomatoes and some water. Simmer for 3 hours. Add kidney beans and a bit more water - simmer for 2 more hours. Add a little cinnamon and salt/pepper to taste and serve in deep bowls over rice with grated cheese and tortilla chips.

So what are you having?

home made burgers in home made baps (rising nicely by the log burner), salad or chips. home made pineapple cake for pud.
Chilli sounds good but my kids pick out the red kidney beans and leave them on the side of the plate.

Mmmmmm sounds lovely , what time are you dishing up?
I'm going to fry some cubed chicken and then put it with a sauce ( Biryani ) and pop it in the oven so that when i get in from doing the neds (It's been a long day , chyropractor for paddy and then shoes and trims for all three others ) , all i need to do is some basmati rice and fry some popadoms and i'm done..voila..

Nothing..!

Didn't have breakfast/lunch until after 3pm.. just had a big mug of warm chocolate milk.. think that's me for the day. So damn sleepy! I fear my eyes will be shut before 9!

Boring old Sunday breakfast fry up here as I'm rushing round being the kids taxi & its the only thing the hubby can cook! Will make up for it tomorrow with a home made chicken satay :)

These replies sound delicious .... with the colder weather its definitely time for comfort food me thinks. We've got sausages, mash, roast parsnips and maybe baked beans (for him!). Kinda thinking that a nice glass of vino might go down well too - even on a "school" night !

:)

My oven door fell off at the weekend and smashed the glass :-( new glass arrived today and guess what? The glass had a great crack in it so I had to send it back.

So tonight we have Tuna pasta bake as I dont need an oven for that :-)

Beef stew :) was yummy with potatoes, carrots, suede and onion. Was delicous. All washed down with a glass of red wine :). Unfortunatly I have burnt my tounge on it though :(

Lasagne and sald. The lasagne is already in the oven and smelling amazing :D

It's the sort of weather for big plates of steaming food and veg. Om nom nom.

Just made Sweet and Sour Pork Cantonese style. My favourite from the Chinese and have been itching to make it. Found a video on YouTube and to be honest it was great. Hopefully can stop the take-outs and save a few quid!!

grot option. 2 pitzas grabbed from Sainsburys late last night (BOGOF!) after the yard so that was my supper tonight as well!

Homemade spag bol, as it is my little boy's fave, followed by pineapple sponge pudding and custard, stuffed now and settled in front of the fire with the russells whilst hubby is bathing little boy. :)
