Sorry to do one of these but I have no idea what price to set for my 5 year old Holstein. This isn't an ad as he isn't for sale yet - he has hardly worked for 3 months and so won't be advertised till the end of Jan at the earliest.

Very handsome rose grey, 16hh, keen to please and does everything you want of him. Works in a nice outline with soft contact and is beginning to really use his whole body and work from the back end. Lovely paces. Jumps anything you point him at, and seems to really enjoy it. Has been XC schooled over all sorts of fences. Hacks alone or in company, very sane for his age. Has never bucked reared or bolted, and no vices. No competition experience due to my pregnancy, but has been out to lots of clinics etc and he will load well, stand in the box quietly and warm up nicely with others buzzing all around him. Has a wonderful kind temperament and will be someone's best friend - he loves a good cuddle and will lean his head on your shoulder for hours. Good breeding with Lord and Quite Capitol in his bloodlines.

Any thoughts? Afternoon hot chocolate and banana cake for anyone who might know!

Thanks for any help.

Due to the lack of competition experience i would say around £4(ish)k but this really depends on his conformation as well etc. Do you have any pictures of him? If you get him out a bit in January (unless you are still pregnant hehe?) and he does well then that would go up, up to £5k with some more experience i would say and some good results (by spring). I know a lot of people on here will say less because of the time of year etc but i think thats a fair price to ask, if not a bit more! He sounds lovely and if he was a bit bigger and it was a few months ago i'd have him

Having seen pics and seeing what a gorgeous boy he is, I would say you could ask 5-5.5k for him in the spring. Obviously the price will go up the more he does, but safe, sane horses always have a good market.

Sounds lovely, I'd just say a nice horse with potential will still fetch money even if lacking experience. the market needs to pick up.

He sounds lovely, but the lack of outings will limit his price... about £4k ish is probably fair. I think for the higher prices (£5-7k) I'd want a horse to have been out and about and proven himself a bit more.
