14hands/14.1hh black or very dark brown blanket spot 3 yr old gelding. I think he will eventually level out at 14.2hh. Smart LW cob type, I think hes probably section D x spotty something or other as hes section D build and movement but with spots. Really nicely marked and even though hes appy x he doesnt have the white splodges around his eyes that some people (me included! :D) dont like. Really good temperament, adores kids and with a bit of life experience and time is going to make one of those really fab bombproof safe, friendly, easy to do ponies that will take a kid to PC and hack out with mum. Hes currently a blank canvas, hes been handled properly and been sat on by kids but no more.

What would he be worth in a years time, as a 4 year old, hacking out quietly, good in traffic, and walk, trot, cantering with a half competent rider?

Would the year and education make much difference to his value?

I have another 3, my riding horse, a yearling and a 2 year old. Unfortunatley time and money wise hes the one that stretches me. I took him back from a family member who had taken him on but couldnt afford him anymore, so I want to ensure his future, just not at the expense of my other 3. Saying that I'd really love to keep him, even if it was just long enough to get him to the stage where he could go on loan, so this is probably just an exercise in me justifying something stoopid to myself! :D

Dotty when I bought him a year ago, looking really young and weedy! But showing what a nice person he is! That pic was taken in the 'pens' at York Sales abotu 15 mins after I bought him, with people running across the noisy walkways overhead.

Not his most flattering picture! Hes a typical boy and likes to give his 'bits' some air time :D But it gives you an idea of build and type etc.

And I'm shocked at what you say his value is! Pleased, but shocked :D I'm based in the North East, and things here are generally poor. I was imaging his value to be £200 give or take, which puts him there or there abouts in the meat money category! If he is worth £800+ then I'll miss him if he sells but will be happy hes gone to a decent home. i'm still trying to justify keeping him mind :D

I REALLY like him.

If you want to sell him and he is 3+ now I would back him (with a very light rider) and ride him away for 6 weeks, walking a trotting in straight lines, stop go, left and right. Sell him as lightly backed for someone to bring one ...a blank canvas. Someone would buy him now hack him lightly over the summer and then turn him away.

I would advertise him at £995 and lightly backed this year.

If you want to keep him (which I would...as he is gorgeous) and sell him as you said above then I would say next year following more training he would be worth £1500 to £2000 depending on who falls in love with him! Mind you I am used to London Prices! I just paid £3000 for a VERY green 5 year old traditional (but sporty) cob *blush.

If I was looking he would be right up my street! but I am NOT.:(
