, but can someone tell me what the difference is between a French link snaffle and a snaffle with a lozenge, or is there no difference.

I think....

A lozenge is like an round, oval pea shape in the middle bit, and a french link has a flat joint thing.

This make sense?

a french link is flat a lozenge is rounded. A lozenge is supposed to suit the shape of the toungue more and have less pressure points technically is my understanding of it

Also be careful not to get a Dr Bristol mixed up with a French Link - French Link - the flat shaped link sits flat on the tongue, Dr Bristol the link in the middle, although flat sits at a different angle and therefore sits "up" when pressure applied !

Also look at "peanut" bits which have a rounder lozenge in the middle - usually in the "happy mouth" type range. Or the Neue Schule lozenged bits - I ride in a Veribindend for both my horses and have my two go nicely / comfortably in them (and they do 1/4" sizes so you can get a "better fit".

Oh I don't feel so thick after all, I currently have him in a french link, but am wondering if he would be better in a lozenge , he doesn't seem to like something lying on his tongue.

i must admit that I am looking at the verbindend as to possibly trying it.

Bitting confuses the hell out of me.
