Today we have bridled Freddie and my instructor has said we should start to practice walking him by the bit, in a little while, but to put lead through both rings.... whats the thingy called that I need ?? like a coupler i suppose?

Just thread the leadrein from one bit ring through to the other. :)
 
If you do not want to lead by using both reins, then try getting a spur strap (or top boot garter strap).
Cut up an old headcollar & use the ring from it or use old ring/metal fixing from a rug.
Thread the strap through bit rings - putting the cut-off ring onto it, do up strap loosely & secure end with plaiting band if overlong.
On occasions you can attach this strap to the noseband by using a shoelace etc.
Attach lead rope onto floating ring at back.

Well done for getting this far- long reining next eh? :D

OH and Freddie keep walking to the end of the drive and looking at the big world, they are both chomping!! I want 3 cars escorting them hehe..... I assume its best to keep a lunge on the headcollar and a short rope on the bit that if he broke free he couldn't stand on the bitted lead?

PS just found my dog chain coupler :-) that will do
