Today I smiled because I measured my Clydie cross. I bought him at four 'to make sixteen hands' and was a bit disappointed when he arrived that he wasn't even half an inch over fifteen hands. Still a bit disappointed at five when he was struggling to get much over 15.2. Measured him today and he has put on over an inch between six and six and a half years old. He's only a quarter inch short of sixteen hands! Clever boy :)

What are you smiling about today?

I smiled at my 5yo son's face when he arrived home on the school bus to realise that I'd organised for his best friend to come and visit..

Hoping to smile later when I trot mini pony up later, if she is sound again..

I smiled during my lesson today on my big daft lad, when he felt so nice & straight underneath me in canter. Taking me ages to get to this point.

Watching my dog enter the park and scan the area for doggy friends to play with. Fortunately she found Milo, a young French Bulldog who turned out to be as crazy and fast as my girl. They had such a brilliant time playing together, for over an hour. I was exhausted :p

Put a bit onto new horse's new bridle and thought of the lovely people who'll be backing him. Okay so it won't be me, but they're lovely and I'm very lucky to know them.

A friend's texts that always brighten my day.

Talked to a doc who knows about my wonky thing and was kind and understanding.

Was wonderfully taken care of by D.

And last but not least, big daft dog stayed quiet and by my side when things got a bit iffy.

All in all it's been a good day :)

Walking the spaniels today, lots of running so hot, thirsty girls stopped at ponies large water bucket, two had a drink other just jumped in to have her drink

Both of the younger horses going out round "the triangle" route and were stars :) The Appy passed the pygmy goats without yesterdays meltdown and the "Little Brown Cob" (all 16hh of her) never appeared to notice the wheelie bins, the pygmy goats, the noisy traffic and the only foot wrong was an attempt to picnic when standing at the side of the road :) The other thing that made me smile was the unintended September lambs playing wround with their mum, who has recovered well from her cesearian.

The Autumn sun stayed out long enough for me to ride out in; I was watching it out of the window at work all morning praying it would and it did! Big smile!

My $h1tland tanking up my field like she's coming up the Cheltenham Hill, her little legs going so fast they become a blur, throwing in the odd buck and squeal just for good measure, and looking like she's a Thelwell pony come to life :) That never fails to make me smile :)

My mare trying out some serious acrobatics this morning when turned out in the fog made me laugh hard, she's not quite as graceful as she likes to think. Then this evening we managed our first successful twenty minute schooling session since her long break without any arguments/bucks/shoulder drops. One very good girly and one content, dry, non menage-sand covered rider.

Finding a 'love you, drive careful ' note next to my keys at 5am this morning from hubby

Then Room service made me smile tonight. Brought me some wine and pasta to have in bed with sole use of the remote. Happy days

My darling old Arab mare, who I've owned for fifteen years, made me smile today. My flatmate was about to throw out 3 overripe bananas yesterday so I quickly swiped them for the ponies as I know they love them. When I turned up with them today lovely mare was absolutely delighted and proceeded to eat two on the trot, peel and all. I then tried to persuade her dizzy gelding companion to let me near so he could have one too, but he was in shan't-be-caught-don't-come-near-me mode and tried to take his banana while keeping as far as physically possible away from me. Naturally, he dropped it, scared himself and ran away with his tail between his legs (that made me laugh, as opposed to smile!). Lovely mare then came along and hoovered up the third banana...I think she might have been a monkey in a previous life.

Bringing my two in late last night. Being caught up in the dark with a headtorch - no problem. Walking past a field with fireworks going off - totally uninterested. Walking practically underneath a barn with two chaps in luminous jackets stripping off the corrugated roof - not the least bit scary. Then cob suddenly has a complete meltdown, dancing about like a lunatic, pony rapidly vacates the area and general chaos ensures. What was this disaster, a grasshopper landed on his bum!! I was giggling all the way home.

Riding three well behaved horses, well my own was good in the end after a discussion about going near a fence! Hacked the other two out, one out in busy traffic first time I'd ridden him at approximately 19hh and the other down a track. Had great fun and helped other people out but will have sore legs tomorrow.

Mainly smiling with the trust my mare is developing in me whilst riding and her look of disgust as I rode past on another horse.

Standing in a middle of a field on work experience with gorgeous views to the north, and autumnal trees to the south, east and west, feeling content with knowing that quitting the PhD was the right choice, and that work exp is proving to be everything I could ever want from a career.

Watching Thistlecrack flying the Chepstow fences - my heart was in my mouth every time he stood off, but wow, what a horse!

Three times today my gorgeous girly made me smile! The first was when I went to turn her out and like every morning she was peering round the corner calling to me (it is so lovely having her at home i can see her little head poked out from my window) then when I turned her out she went cantering off down the field like a mad thing. Then we had a lovely hack today and lots of young cows came galloping along the fence when they saw her and she just looked at them and kept walking, I love how amazing she is to hack!

First thing this morning the lovely new French horse who is a rare relative of my big Hocamaffe, stood like an absolute lamb to clip! He's not long been in the yard so I had no idea what he would be like.

My wee reprobate and the black Beauty never fail to put a smile on your face at work. My other wee dude is on holiday til the end of the week but he is another that you can't help but smile on.

The wee coloured job always makes me laugh when he bombs up the field. Not so much when he skids to a stop and covers you in mud though!

My daughter jumped a jump she has tried to for weeks. She is very nervous and has it up but every time she jumps she has decided it is too high (1ft approx.) Today she had obviously given herself a talking to as not only jumped it but asked for the cross pole to be made an upright. Jumped that too!

A few days ago, I smiled trying to work out how on earth my very unlimber arthritic 16.2 oldie managed to sneak into his grassy winter paddock, and I found him looking sheepish!

No clues at all. Fencing all intact, no running marks, I'm 90% sure he couldn't jump that high any more - so he must have done a skillful limbo! Dear old guy!
