What's nice about winter?

Am feeling a bit winter bluesy after the clock change, so had a think about what I LIKE about it!! Have I missed anything or is this really it??

Tucking up horse in a big warm bed for the night with a feed and loads of hay
Hacking out on a crisp cold morning
Hunting
No flies

Then I ran out! Is it really this pants???

Having 3 gee gees tucked up snug and warm and then curling up in front of a roaring fire with a large glass of red.
Covering all the bulgy bits under big baggy jumpers!!

It is easier to think of all the bad stuff.

Getting to break out the lovely thick cosy winter rugs, Big beds, Horses being a little sharper and more interesting to hack and settling down infront of the fire with a glass of wine safe in the knowledge your horse is tucked up in his stable.

I like getting to the yard in the morning and all the horses being in their stables rather than it being quiet and empty.
And it makes me get up earlier to put them out in the fields.

When its starts getting dark early everone goes home earlier and i get the yard and school to myself every day! Bliss!

Christmas.
Being tucked up inside by 5pm.
No bugs, = no sweet itch!
Homemade veg soup and ratatouille, much nicer than salads!

Not having to spend it in the UK, (sorry folks, winter kills me over there)

Here, I have blue sky, sunshine, having to wear sunglasses at -25C, skating on the pond, walking/riding in our woods, happy horses. NO rain, NO MUD, No poo picking

NO bloodthirsty bugs.

I even like the temperature,blizzards, and howling gales, the ice storms, ploughing tracks to the fields, bringing in logs (that is what quads and sleds are for)

I LOVE WINTER!

I cannot wait for it to get here

There is a window behind there!

Riding in the dark.

I have to hack about 5 minutes across the farm where I keep my horse to the larger sandschool and its so well lit by the moon and the few houses en route that its more or less as safe as having been in daylight and its silent

Loove it, Darcys never concentrated better either which is saying something

Those gorgeous rides on a frosty Sunday morning, when it's blue skies as far as you can see and your horse is decked out in sheepskin nummnah looking smart with a hunter clip, and you've got on a nice thick coat, thick gloves and fleece lined chaps on.

(but then you dismount and feel like your frozen feet have just snapped in half

Oh, and your horse waiting for you in the stable when you go in on a morning, Don't think there's a better sound than that welcoming whinny/grumble combo that my boy does.

In winter I really appreciate those lovely cold, crisp, clear days.
But in summer I am constantly disappointed by the bad weather!
I have really gone off summer - I can't bear the constant disappointment! And, winter means it's nearly spring - lambs, daffodils and pussy willow!

I bloody hate Winter - it's so cold and I really need to move somewhere hot

However... I do love:

Mulled wine
Riding on a crisp Winter's morning
Looking across the fields and it has a white frosting!
Bare trees with rain on them so they look like diamonds

Clipped horse all snug in her rugs and with a warm straw bed
