Have been looking forward to Burghley all year... I am very lucky as it's my birthday on Thursday and also inherited some money to buy something in memory of a very special person soooo my shopping list currently consists of:

A pair of Sergio Grasso Vicenza boots
Possibly a new body protector and/or hat
The obligatory Joules item of clothing,
Everyday breeches
Thermal breeches for hunting

and whatever else falls into my hands whilst browsing shops :D

What's on your list?

Another gilet though I dont need another one
Some interesting spices from the spice shop
Maybe some chaps as my 19 year old ones are slowly dying
A bacon sandwich from the stall tucked away which does proper butties not the other overpriced stuff
Christmas pressies if I see anything good

Some decent quality rugs if they are in the sale. Some Hilton Herbs salt licks. And maybe a bling browband or numnah if I can sneak it past my husband!

A smoking jacket with velvet quilting:

This lot have an advert in the Burghley Member's magazine and this is the photo they used.

I am going to ask to try one on for a dare. Not sure whether to go for the green or the purple. I think I am more a cravate man though... I wonder how many people we could get to go and ask to try on the same smoking jackets before they realised something is up?

Seriously though, who on earth would buy one of these things? It looks like something that central casting found for a remake of the Hound of the Baskervilles!

Ohhhh - I have transferred a substantial ammount out of my savings just for this purpose!!!

My list includes:

- HS1 hat
- Pikeur breeches
- Thermal breeches (for hunting)
- A pair of new leather boots, dont mind what brand, but must have laces on the front, zip up the back, be elegant and fit my very fat legs!
- Maybe a new jacket for SJ (although would just like to loose weight and fit into my Kentucky one.... )
- a Bates dressage saddle (if I find one at a fab price! Prob not though....!)
- Anything and everything from Joules!
- A pair of those ''stretch and flex'' dressage wraps, in white!
- New pair of chaps
- Anything covered in diamante?????!?!?

Could get pricey.....!

A pair of Dubarry Boots
A Burghley Joules sweat top
A new stable rug
Lots of Pimms! Going on Friday and stopping in a hotel in Peterborough, going to be a cracking weekend, my friend i am going with leaves to live in Turkey on the Monday :-( Burghley has become a tradition for us and this will be our last

classy B_A.... good man.

i've got new chaps, and new jods on the list
OH has hunting jacket
sister has the entire joules and musto range on the list
and sisters OH just has a huge learning curve as he isn't remotely horsey and only went to badders as Ro dragged him to XC day!

Hmmm - well, after today, I shall be looking for a decent pair of spurs :D Short legs on 17.3hh horse is not a good combination, however well schooled he is :D

We've got a trade stand there and guess what TODAY our mobile credit card machine decides not to work any more!  Its previous unblemished record of reliability had to go t*ts up the day before we leave to set-up the stand didnt it!... (whimpers pitifully).... Now trying to arrange a replacement to be sent to the show...

which stand are you on? I'll pop by and say hello (if you're not too busy!)

I am SO looking forward to Burghley :D :D :D We go on XC day every year, i love it. It falls the week or two before my birthday usually, so I normally have to be in debt to my mum and then pay her back with my bday money the next week :o :p That and emptying my bank account :o
I have sooo many things I need (/want :o :D ) to buy, especially as when I got my TB in the spring he came with basically no heavier rugs.

HW turnout and neck
HW stable rug and neck
Thermatex or similar day rug for travelling and looking smart at winter competitions :D
Exercise sheet, old one too small for big new horse!
Impuls spurs
(another  ) Polypad
Tendon boots
New breastplate
And probably a load of stuff i don't need/don't know i want yet..

Oh dear, looks like an expensive trip :o

Thermal breeches and socks!! The hunting season cometh ;)
Also in dire need of a new girth I think...current black girth with my brown saddle = a no no ;)
And no doubt lots of other tat that I don't really need....but you buy it anyway because your at Burghley!
(I have many selfs worth of the stuff already but always room for more!)

Try the townfields saddlers stand!! I bought my saddle their last year, took the horse to him to see if it fitted 2 weeks later, and he gave us the same burghley discount just for coming back to him :D worked out about £300 off!

Not been for three years! So VERY excited - can't spend much, but will visit Foxes Spices - my Burghley tradition! And, as I can't have Pimms, will have a dozen oysters instead. (Then, if I could find a man to "use" them on, it would be perfect ! ;);) )

Ohhh, I'm so excited! We are leaving tomorrow AM so I'm all packed up with no-where to go! Soooooooooooooo looking forward to it! I have spent today baking cakes just to pass the time (It is kinda what I do when I'm nervous / excited!) So far we have 2x coffee and walnut cakes, millions of fairy cakes (chocolate and vanilla) and a butterscotch cake and LOTS of jam tarts! Yes, I am very excited!!!!

I'll take a fairy cake please! :D

Jenhunt, yes do come and say hello! In fact everyone come and say hello, I promise I won't even try to sell you anything - actually I probably can't anyway as we may have no way of taking money :D unless credit card machine takes pity on us.

We are in the World of the Horse. Blink and you'll miss us, we had to go for a v small stand (can't get our own pitch at Burghley, unlike badminton so its v expensive)

I'm the exhausted blonde one (I always look exhausted :D )
