goes unpaid? Yep, paid with bad luck and hassle!

There's only one livery on the little yard my shares are at and at the moment they are all in for the winter since there's only one small field and owner wants some of it left for summer.

The livery owner has just started new job and her big lad was bored stiff today despite having half a net left so i thought he could go out with my share horsey for a run in the school while i mucked out. They go out together in there all the time and are good friends.

But they were full of themselves today and both throwing some pretty extreme shapes, and now the livery horse has pulled off a front shoe which i have to pay for. GRR! I have hardly any overdraft left as it is, and this is just something i don't need

Plus i obviously feel ridiculously guilty that she can't ride him now til the farrier can come. I just thought he would like a leg stretch, as it's a long time between her coming in the morning and later on at night.

Won't touch him again that's for sure.

Erm...Sorry why do you have to pay to get the thing reshod!

Nope I would never bother again, just let it go mental in the box...........my guessing would be if it destroyed it's box you would have to pay for that as well.......She's not a member on 'ere is she,she will have you up for slander!!!!!!

I think if it was my horse, and being honest, I would be cross at first if it lost a shoe as I'd immediately blame you and think "well why interfere - if you hadn't put him out it wouldn't have happened" BUT if you had done the same thing, and horse hadn't lost a shoe, I would be thanking you for doing it - does that make sense?? I would not expect you to pay for replacing the shoe however.

I said i would pay, she just didn't say no

He would still have shoe on if i hadn't put him out. Just thought he might like to socialise as he is the opposite side of yard to everyone else. But he liked it a bit too much. It was clearly my fault for interfering....

She's a friend, i haven't slandered her, i am just annoyed at the bad luck and bad timing

She's moving in a couple of weeks to somewhere with winter t/o as he's been getting a bit dangerous, so i thought an extra leg stretch would help...

I get the feeling she is really annoyed though, texts have been very short

Tricky one. I'd be a little annoyed if someone did something (even a nice something!) to one of my animals without asking.

Having said that it sounds like
- you know this person quite well
- he obviously did need the leg stretch!

So, I think no harm done. Maybe next time send a txt or something before to get permission becasue then
- it is owner's responsibility
- you get the credit for your good deed ;-)

Thanks Tickles, i did think of texting her, especially since he's a bolshy rude oaf, i'm not keen on handling him as he's huuuge and just doesn't care who is on the end of the rope. But then i thought, nah it's her first week of work i don't want to interrupt her at work, and so i just got my hat on and put him out. I did actually think 'what's the worst that could happen?' And the only thing i pictured going wrong was me getting squished/ trampled

Backfired majorly as i had to cause her stress at work after he lost his shoe though, arg!

Never mind. Thanks for all the replies
