What's the best brand of shavings to use?

I've got large flake shavings at the mo and to be honest I'm not impressed!
It doesn't seem to matter how many bales i put in the bed seems to turn so quickly, not sure if it's the wood it's made from or something.

So I'm looking for recommendations for shavings, preferably small flake and a decent price. Happy to buy a pallet load but need a few ideas on makes that are worth it!

Plospan is the best I have used and for ponies and chickens I have worked my way through a lot of brands!

Our yard uses hunter shavings, our yo has tried and tested most on the market and found these to be best

Bedlamite, used to make really good shavings very ‘flaky’ and absorbent. Very expensive, not seen any for a while though.

My girl isn't majorly messy, poos in the middle and pees in one place but these seem to go brown all over in 2 days almost like i need well over a bale a week, never had such bad ones...will look into those though.......

I don't use shavings anymore but Hunter shavings are far superior to any other and would be the only brand that I would consider if I did use them again ( which is unlikely but off the subject)

Natural Flake or Mendips! I guess it depends where in the country you are as to what's available. Both these are a medium flake and are not dusty but seem to soak up wee very well. Natural Flake seem to retail at about £7.25-50 and I think Mendips are similarly priced. Don't try Bedmax as this is very large flakes and I didn't find it very absorbant!

My favourites are Wooburn or General Chip. Just can't seem to get them anywhere near me!
