As title states - I have an old pony who is a little stiff in her joints and wondering what people think....At the moment I am using codliver oil for her but she still seems to be pretty stiff....
My other horse who is 5 also has a slight clicking joints so I wanted to use something which could be used for both....

I use to use cortaflex with good results. But my chiropractor and vet both said the the healthspan Equiflex was half the price for the same product. I know use that and am please with it.

It is really trial and error, you may not think that something works very well on your particular horse although works wonders on someone elses.

I use Feedmark extra flex HA, if you dnt want to spend a fortune feedmark are at bramham and all supplements are half price while stocks last, so ive been told. Wish someone told me before i bought a new tub!

With so many joint supplements out there it is very hard to chose any one. I like cider vnegar especially for young horses and it is great for tempting fussy eaters and makes coat nice and shinny. Also is not expensive, cortaflex is the leading brand for a reason it dose work but is expensive the best bet is to have a look at some on-line stores or in the tack shop and see what is the best you can get for your budget.
If in doubt your vet will prob be able to help you

I used to use Suppleaze gold on my daughters jumping pony before we sold it. They have an ad in this weeks horse and hound and will send you a sample to try it first so you can see if it works. They also have a special offer on at the mo

The best around is adaquine, injected in the muscle, excellent results.

Adequan is not a joint supplement as such- its injected either intra muscularly or into the joint space by a vet- usually for a specific problem or reason-

it may be worth speaking to your vet for their recommendation. Newmarket joint supp is a good Joint supplement though. gd luck

I swear by ExtraFlex HA by Feedmark, they mail order, next day without fail and are fantastic. Aswell as doing great products, the people there are brilliant too (I dont work there by the way haha I really do think this

Hi all the above have good reputatons adequin wll as pointed out need to be gven by a vet and the newmarket stuff is excellent if expensive, try cider vinegar and work your way up the prce bands till u find one that fits all the box's

Cortavet can only get through the vet very gd by the same people that make cortaflex but a stronger more concentrated version since being on my horse has gone from two bute a day to the odd one when ground hard. both of these suplements have smaller molecules of chondotin and glucoseinmine so absobed and used much better by the body which is why they are not as cheap as some but they do seem to work. although having said that depends on the problem as to what ingredients work best for your situation.

My ned is also on newmarket joint sup. My vet has said that there is strong evidence that horses do not absorb chondroitin so its a waste of money (aparently they just poo it out). He said cortaflex is also waste of money as it is mass produced (arent they all??) and doesnt have the same amount in each bucket. Who know, just going on what they have told me (they sell newmarket so guess they get the profit on it!).
