What's the best or worst prize that you have won

Worst was a Bakewell Tart (which i don't even like)at Osmaston BE years ago.

Best was a Pair of reins from Richmond BE!

Also won some vouchers for a free days hunting:)

Best: A really nice (albeit huge) gilet with Toyota British Horse Trials Championship on it for winning a Novice qualifier on my first eventer. That was back in 1989 and I still keep it in the lorry and still wear it! They've definitely gotten their money's worth in advertising... ;) ;)

This has just reminded me of one of the worst prizes (or possibly the most ridiculous ) I have won. For winning the BE100 open secion at an event I won a body warmer, embroidered with the name of the event and sponsors etc. Brilliant. Not until I opened up the packet when I got home did I see it was size 6XL ! It was beyond huge, closer to fitting my horse than it was me . I did wonder which bright spark it was, thought somebody having just won a BE event would really be a 6XL !

The worst... I don't think I've ever really won a 'prize' apart from this once:
came 3rd in a show x, there was alcohol for adults and Celebrations for the kids. I went to collect mine and the woman tried to give me a bottle of wine, not realising at the time I was only 16!! ;) I was just like "you do realise I'm a junior?" She was mortified haha. So on the plus side I got a huge tub of chocolate instead. Can't go wrong with that ;)

And won £20 last time we went out.. that wasn't bad either!

Best - On valentines day this year at Somerford they ran show jumping for eventing and out of loads of entries, I was flabbergasted to have won - I won a big box of heart shaped milk tray, bottle of champagne and money. My most appreciated win from a relatively small entry fee. Also won BE90 at Kelsall, sponsered by Blue Chip so won blue chip jacket and a blue chip product of my choice as well as money. Won an electric fence energiser many years ago at an unaffilliated event, which although was uninspiring, I sold for lots of money!
Worst - hmmmm 'nothing' is generally the worst, I have been top 10 in every event this year and mostly won nothing except a rossette.

Best - I did a showjumping comp and come 1st and 3rd so won 2 rugs and 2 shires Jackets and Shires Vouchers come 2 about £100 pounds.

The worst was the Sash from the same how, I jumped all season to get the point to get to the champs .

But I wont moan about it

WORST first, because it takes the cake:

There was a year long show series proudly sponsored by a large horse trailer company. The rider with the highest percentage at the end off the series won $5,000 dollars!!

So I drug the Riley-mon to all of these shows, praying he wouldn't go lame, as he was (and is) very prone to accidents and injuries. (in 8 years of ownership, I think we had 2 full year campaigns without injury- and this happened to be one). Because the R-man was spectacularly awesome at second level- WE WON!!

So imagine my delight ripping open the letter mailed to me, expecting my $$$$ . . . .

And the letter states "Due to the struggling economy, we will be unable to pay out . . . "

whomp whomp.

Best- money, folding chairs, two winter coats, 3 coolers. But not $5,000!

Worst at the time, but turned out all right:

My first CCI1* Junior at a major 3DE, in previous years entries had been minimal (think 3) so had only awarded 3 prizes. The year I rode, the class had 28 :D, so the program stated prizes would be awarded to 6th, as per the rules. Imagine my delight when I managed to place 6th! I made myself and horse beautiful, and turned up at the indoor for prizegiving, only to have places 4th, 5th and 6th told to nick off, prizes only go to 3rd :( I was 16 at the time, my first 1*, so was pretty :(:(

But a week later I received and ENORMOUS rosette :D with a letter of apology. It was very lovely and I wrote them a letter back and thanked them.

Best prize was probably when I was about 12 and my interschool team won the state champs, got a lovely rug, rosette, shield and a bag of goodies :D

Otherwise money, feed vouchers, bags of feed and little things like grooming/first aid stuff is always nice :D

I have only ever won a trophy when I was 14ish for coming 2nd in young handler at an open show. I was so proud as me and my pony were knee deep in mud by the time it was that class.

Forgot to say my best prize was probably the money won at BE and once when I was about 8 over the summer anyone who came 1st,2nd or 3rd over a series of shows got to compete at the championship show which we won and got a trophy however it was tiny!

A comp centre near me has their championship this weekend and winner of points league gets a saddle!

Worst and best combined was winning a trophy for coming 1st in a 2ft9 Hunter Trial and they lost the cup. Said they would post me one but never did. I cried as it was the only class I had ever won in my life lol

Worst was when combined points from 2 classes got a trophy - win both classes to be told they didn't have the trophy! Was gutted had tried really hard to get the trophy and was only 14 :(
Never really won any great prizes - nice rosettes and a nice trophy, a couple of vouchers and some small prize money but nothing exciting :( hopefully once my new boy gets going we can find some shows with nice prizes :p

I won a challenge class at the Under 21s Dressage champs and I have to say, the prizes were wonderful. I won the most beautiful rug with embroidery on it, which I doubt will ever be used as its so pretty! Also won a sash and some magnificent rosettes. By far the best, they were lovely.

The worst was a voucher for a saddlery shop for a shop that wasn't even at the venue but 25 miles in the wrong direction!

Best prize was when we came runner up in the points table at a local show series for bs 90cm/1m classes, won a lovely rug and lots of other goodies.

Worst prize .. a few years later on my older mare then aged 19 and in her last year of bs, decided that as I had seen the fabulous prizes that had been won in bs amateur leagues that we would try and win the local 80cm, well we managed to win and were called down to a presentation ceremony, it was in the winter & miles away down the motorway, I duly set off on a dark wintry night, with my sister. Well, they were running a show and in the middle of it just called us out to the ringside and I received a small trophy & rosette, no goodies whatsoever!! Can laugh about it now though!! My friend won the equivalent in the northern league and her presentation was at the bs ball, so she had to fork out for a ticket in order to obtain her trophy & rosette so don't think I did too badly really! Needless to say we didn't bother with bs amateur league tables in future...I think only in the South did they give out nice prizes!!

I have had a few 'best prizes'. I won £200 for best turned out horse at Newcastle races on Eider Day for the Eider 3 years ago!! Also a couple of years ago I was both 1st & 3rd in the BE100U18 Area Final held at Turnberry. I came away with a beautiful Thermatex embroidered with the KBIS Logo and "Under 18 Scottish BE100 Champion", A lovely cosy KBIS jacket, hoodie, poloshirt and gilet, over £150, a voucher for a well known saddlery company who attend the majority of Scottish and Northern events and a framed picture of my winning horse!! It was definately the best selection of prizes ever!!
I also won a copy of the Over To You book signed by Jeanette Breakwell for being 2nd in the PN at Hutton.

Worst prize had got to be a box of oatcakes for being 4th in a BE100 regional final!! Or the pink and purple hat silk that I won in a hunter trial about a month ago - fair enough if I was maybe 9 years old but not in the adult open section!!

places i go don't tend to give out prizes :( so the worst is defiantly nothing!! i have always wanted a sash forever! finally got two in one day with my youngster in two inland classes :) so proud - still hanging in my bedroom and a friend and i won a pairs class at a hunter trial and got a big rossie and a little trophy :)

By the sounds of things some unafilliated comps over better prices than affiliated!! I've been very lucky to win several good prizes (all unafilliated)...lovely leather bridle, grooming kit, a shires rug, numnah and coat at their championships, fleece rug and some lovely trophies, but think the best prizes I have ever won have got to be at the NAF BRC national champs, been very fortunate to win their a few times and always get the lovely light weight thermatex rugs, sashes, rosettes, trophies and plenty of vouchers for their 5* products (works out well cos ours are fed superflex &one of mine is on magic!).
Worst has to be at the PC champs...when I've won I've got a lovely rug...but when I came 6th I got a hoof pick!! Useful but not that exciting!! I do agree with whoever said about the PC champs...overall winner of dressage gets a lovely saddle...everyone else almost gets forgotten about!

I'm jealous of all the rug winners! That's one thing I'd really like to win, and a jacket :o

Best has probably been a sash, trophy and big rosette once at a charity show - we came 2nd (highest junior & best pony!) in a six-bar :D Money is good but just doesn't feel as special!

Worst was not getting a special RoR rosette at Lincolnshire show, despite everyone else in the class getting one (they ran out, despite it being pre-entry, and I was last to leave the ring because someone else's horse kicked mine :()

I won a Disco class a couple of years ago at Hilton Charity show, and wona rug, sash, engraved glass and £50. Happy days :)

The worst, well not worst, but oddest - a wormer !

Daughter aged 11 won a mini ODE.

We stood gawping at the well-laden prize table wondering what she might have won as other age groups were called up and presented with their prize. They called out her name, she walked up and the DC looked at my child, studied the table, and grabbed a bottle of fly spray to give her - as if an 11 yr old would ever want a bottle of fly spray!

So I bought it off her for what it cost (they had left the price on - £7.99) and I bought her a little trophy from eBay for the same price - she was thrilled :)

Oh just remembered another one - I won a bag of that dried grass chaff stuff at a BE event a few years back, problem was the marquee where they did the prize giving was MILES from the lorry park and it had been PEEING rain all day so I was soaked and cold, then had to drag a 25kg bag of chaff (coz it was an awkward fat size to carry) through the mud all the way back to the trailer! I dont think the horse was even that impressed by it :(

My daughter - then aged 8 - came second in the finals of a well known national amateur SJ series and won..... £100 of vouchers for fencing. Redeemable only on orders over £1,000.

Oh.

First prize was a new saddle!
