That's fair enough, sounds as if you did the right thing. I didn't mean that you were wrong to do so, just that I would have been safer on my horse as he's used to the hunt and I've had him for over 4 years, so know how exactly he'd react (excitment!)and generally, you'd be safer staying on but as all was well, you did the right thing
Ah, wasn't me if it was Pontardawe as I was in Llanfabon/Cilfnydd area to the east with the Gelligaer, but my old boss was field master for the Banwen years ago. Do you think you'll hunt your horse once you're used to her?![]()
Thats okay i havent taken anyones replies to heart, i genuinely was interested to know what others think and kind of knew that a lot of people are of the opinion that you're always safer on board, a while ago i would have been of the same mind but after a few hairy bronking fits and sharp exits with a horse i no longer own i must admit to not being so brave anymoreand i must also agree with what others have said re passing on our feelings as riders to the horse and causing bad/silly behaviour, however, with my now sensible steed i feel i'm on the way back, am hoping to do some shows this year - gonna start in-hand to guage her behaviour in the ring and then hopefully a couple of ridden ones and maybe a fun ride...so hmm hunting... you never know if all goes well
