My pony shares a field with eight other horses..and one of the owners told me that her pony has got lice at the moment (she has treated him). Although when i checked my pony he had no visible lice, I thought i should still treat him. What do you think the most effective thing on the market?

deosect,it appears to be rather expensive for a little tin but it has to be greatly diluted so lasts ages.
i have mixed it in a plant-spray bottle and treated mane, top line to tail, repeat 1 week later.all done.

If mine have lice I powder them, worm with an ivermectin based wormer and clip if necessary.

One of mine had lice a few years ago. The lice did not spread even to her field mate with whom she spent hours mutual grooming. The only thing that worked getting rid of them was a shampoo I got from the vet. Lice powder is a waste of money and the injection the vet gave her also did not work.

Glad someone posted this, Iive got the pleasure of telling the new lady on the yard her 2 horses are running with lice, lovely, which now means ill have to treat all mine as well. Good to read what works & what doesnt.
