What's the best way to B&W from the South?

Last time we went we came off at Junction 25 and went up the A303 but having had a look on Autoroute express i'm now thinking it's better to go up to Junction 23 and then through Glastonbury.
Which way is best?

Last year the M5 was a nightmare, so I think I will prob be sticking to the A303 which although it was quite slow it was moving unlike the M5 which was at a complete standstill!!!

I would have said J23 then A39, the A39 isn't as nice as the A303 but shorter distance. If motorway clear when you leave (check on www.trafficengland.co.uk ) then I would go that way personally. You can also check on www.bbc.co.uk/travel for anything major on A39 or A303, there are currently some roadworks on both but those not causing any real issue. The only problem I had on the A39 last friday at rush hour was the small stretch between J23 and the A39 proper and that was because it was literally rush hour on Friday any other time of day and it is fine!

See, this is the way I though prob best because there is no having to slow and stop for roundabouts for a lot longer than if I went up 303. I'll be hitting it at around 9am ish, so would have thought not too bad for traffic. Fingers x'd! Cheers K

A39 gets my vote, I use it quite a bit and apart from rush hour it's normally ok. I'm lucky I only live about 20 mins away. I'm off up sunday to watch a friend compete, good luck
