what's the best way to gain weight on a young horse

I've used things in the past like slobber mash but are there any sure fire ways of getting weight and condition on a poor three year old?

What grazing is your horse on and how much hay/haylage is he/she getting?

Make sure it's well wormed. Feed ad lib quality hay and a balancer for young horses.

Be careful not to overdo the feeding of a youngster, it can cause many problems. A healthy youngster is growing so does not always carry much weight
