What's the best way to get rid of docks please?

I spray mine with Roundup and it is effective because the leaves are so big but I'm sure someone will be able to provide a cheaper alternative as Roundup is expensive to buy large quantities of. I heard that adding limestone to the soil made it harder for them to take root or am I wrong? (I'll wait to be corrected :D)

spot spray with Grazeon or Glyphosate (roundup). If you use the latter be very careful as it will kill everything, including the grass.

It does really need some rain within 48hrs of being used or it won't work as well.

mmmm, from what i was told, graze on should only kill broadleaf weeds like docks, and the grass should be fine? i think thats why its called grazeon? i got some of this from my local agricultural contractors, except its now called 'blaster'. i used a pump sprayer and face mask and did it myself - had to keep horse off for 2weeks and its worked a treat.

yes - grazeon will only kill the weeds, it is the Glyphosate that will kill everything, grass included.

Slightly off topic but if you have ragwort and can keep horses off the pasture for 2 months, apply it at 3 times the normal rate and it will completely eradicate it. Obviously you need to be very careful about not getting the stuff on you or inhaling it.

If you just want something to knock the weeds down quickly then try Paraquat - this is on the poisons list though so you may need a registered sprayman to purchase / apply it for you. Won't kill the root like Glyphosate but much quicker knock down.
