Have bought a new bridle and it seems that she doesn't like the 'new feel' of it. It does fit and is exactly the same size as her old one. She can be a bit head shy (she has a fistula above her eye). What is the best way to make the bridle feel a bit less new. I have treated it twice with effax leather oil. Any suggestions welcome.

You need a tub, and fill it with neatsfoot oil. The put the pieces of the bridle into the tub and leave for 3 days.

Then twist the leather to "break" it and hang up to dry somewhere airy.

Then quick wipe over with saddle soap (stubben saddle soap IMO is the absolute best btw)

My goodness, some of you don't like your leather do you?!

Use a Leather FEED, such as Effax (not the oil) or Hamanol.

The red stuff works best IMO... as long as you leave it 24hrs after application to use it!! Ko-Cao-Line Leather Dressing... in a small tin, looks rather like red alien goo, but OMG it works!!!!

A friend of mine swears by dumping the lot in a bucket of water, leaving for a few minutes, and then getting it out and soaping! I would NEVER do that to my tack and almost had a heart attack the first time I saw her do it!

The red stuff really is excellent!
