What's the biggest XC fence ever jumped in competition?...

Those horses in the Maryland Hunt Cup are some of the most amazing jumpers!!
And the ones in the Parduhoweveritspelt are soooo quick on their feet, the all had a 5th leg..

just loving this picture!!! the winner is the one on the far side of the camera!! making the perfect shape, with the jockey in the perfect position!!

that's a great pic, wow, thanks for posting that. perfect style.
it's just occurred to me, none of us have mentioned Team Chasing, they have some absolutely fearsomely huge fences in that. a mate of mine did the Nationals years ago and said there was a huge hedge with a humungous drop that caused tons of trouble, loads and loads of falls. iirc 5' ish plus with maybe a 6' drop or more?!

Good point Kerilli, most of the open TC jumps are huge. Having walked a fair few courses where I can't see over the top of hedges (and bear in mind I'm 5'8) ! Never mind the huge ditches and drops in addition.

I still say the scariest fence I have ever seen (close up anyway) is the huge trakehner which features in the 2* at Burgie up here!!! The rails (very thick logs) are at an angle, it's on a downhill slope and has a deep ditch under it. It's just psychological though. I have read that Lucinda book about Be Fair and I remember the picture of the jump.....looked horrible.
