Whats the differance in a green or blue Irish passport?

Hi,
As title really, my mare has a green passport but her filly's passport has just arrived and it's blue. I'm confused!!!

Not sure but could it be something like blue not registered with IHB

a green passport means that both parents are in the main studbook and the stallion is fully approved.a blue passport means that the sire is in the supplementary section of the irish horse board meaning the stallion failed the vet,has not got full breeding recorded or has no performance record or a combination of all.what is your mare and foal by?

Hi,
My mare is by White Clover the stallion I used was Drumhowan Cavalier. It might have been the performance then, as he is elite graded with over here with BSPA or CHAPS. Not sure how old he was when he left Ireland as he has done a lot over here and he is only 8 or 9.

that explains it.as far as i know he was never put up for performance testing therefore no full approval.i use horses either fully approved and supplementary if i think they are good enough.i really think it does not make much difference as long as they are producing the goods.
