hi about to purchase a 12.h riding pony for my 6 year old grandaughter to do lead rein showing can someone please explain to me what the difference is between a riding pony and a show pony are they both turned out the same way in a show ring also i want to do in hand with the same pony so would i still use a plain brow band as you would with any other in hander...thanks

Show Pony and riding pony are the same...

If you showed in hand you would show as a Riding/Show pony so with a coloured browband or you could do pony of hunter type then you can do plain but it maybe to fine for Pony of hunter type... but you often see the Lean Rein ponies boing both

I could be wrong but the British Riding Pony is a breed. Show ponies are the type. I am sure natives can do lead-rein classes as well. If it is a show pony then a coloured band if a show hunter pony then a plain brow band. If you are able to post a pic on the forum and there are some knowledgable showing people who would be able to tell you the best classes and turnout for you and your pony.
