A highland is scottish, a welsh section d is from wales, cobs are normally from ireland. Never heard of a garron but im guessing they are from england

I thought that a garron was the old word for a horse of no specific breed ie heinz 57

That's what I understood too, the Garron is the traditional 'old style' highland pony as opposed to the modern, finer types.
