So, when you went to view the horse and it appeared before you...what was the first thing you said or thought?

For me it was "He's got really short legs""

Do you really want to know? It was "Jesus, she's f......g beautiful" and so she was.

She's now up amongst the clouds, but never have I actually loved another horse, quite as I did her.

Rest in Peace, my beautiful woman.

Alec.

'Its pink'
'Its a mother clucking pink barbie pony I am NOT riding that'
......
She came home with us and was the best pony ever! Made a point of clipping her out every year so as she went more blue roan than PINK!! :)

My first loan pony - I was used to riding big horses, nothing under 15hh as I was quite a big kid when I started learning and our Rebsie was only 13.2 so I muttered to my mum "am I going to fit on him??" then when I'd jumped him just "wow I love him!"
And when I got offered Kelly for loan after Rebel I said "really?? Are you joking????" (in a good way!!)

Blimey it has a white ringed eye, a bendy neck, and went pretty quick.....I bought it and kept it for over 12 years. She (a chestnut TB mare) hada few great seasons for me at RC (once we got there....) bred 2 foals and then did PC with one of my children, where she was still mad as a hatter at aged 15......sold her at aged 16 to go on and have another foal.....
The latest one was walking around the ring at Ascot....not on my short-list, not looked at previously.....it was stuck on a £1,000 guinieas - I looked down at my catalogue - saw it had run in the Fox Hunters at Cheltenham and bid.......At home now, lovely laid back horse, booked in for V expensive wind operation.....I will let you know if you should back him for the 2011 Foxhunters!!

Tiggy - I just knew I was taking her home. It was a quiet, almost sad knowing. I knew it wasn't going to be happy ever after, but that she was still going home with me. On the whole, it was one of the best year's of my life.

Dizzy - first time I saw her I thought "Yikes! Ginger mountain with small eyes! Yuck". Bought Tiggy. A year later I was back, saw Dizz again and fell in love :D :D :D

Dylan - omg that is too good for me :) At the time he was a 6 year old tb who was at my dads boss yard. We have had our ups and downs but was the best choice I have ever made

Rio - oh dear - was a rather skinny hairless ex racer who was a couple of inchs short of the height I thought he was - tbh though I bought him unseen and he has since grown to that height so didn't come off too badly

Minstrel - "Dad, even if this isn't 'Minstrel' can I still have him?" At a yard he was looking over the door with his lovely handsome face and gently snuffled me when I got close... Never looked back and still together and he is now the age I was when I got him!! 10 years ago!

Ted was through pictures "Oh my god. Look at him!!! I WANT!" We bought him vetted but unseen.

if shes keeps 4 legs on the floor i will buy her..

id travelled from devon to wales through wales to the midlands. and had hd what could only be described as a very entertaining 48 hours..

First thing I thought when I saw this tiny 9 month old neglected filly still with her market sticker on her bum and all her lovely foal fur stuck to her belly with wee and poop..... OH MY GOD I MUST HAVE HER!!!

10 years on its something I have never regretted :)

When the dealer brought her out I said 'she's quite nice but I really don't want a grey'. After riding her I changed my mind and when my saddle fitted her it was a done deal!

I honestly can't remember... I was exercising him for the guy I eventually bought him off, so I wasn't thinking about buying him. I remember being told he was quite buzzy for a cob

He wasn't he just made you think he was! He is now tho

I didnt really go to veiw mine, I saw him at a yard over the stable door and the first thing I said was:
"Oh my god hes stunning, shame I would never be able to afford a horse like him".... then the whole "oh well its grey anyway, who wants a grey horse they are horrid to keep clean"

Both points were 100% correct but I somehow got him home and am slowly getting used to him only staying clean until I put him back in his stable or the field after a bath!! Bless him

"Wow mum ,look at that grey over there! I'd love a horse like that for my first horse!"

Little did I know I'd be loaning him 3 years later :D I'm a very lucky girl and still think hes gorgeous everytime I see him :)

My first glimpse of him was from the top of the field..was told he was chestnut and 15.2 but he looked bay and about 14hh and i was like " oh no have we come to see the wrong horse!?"

He was out with 3 17hh+ so he looked tiny!

Second thing was "OMG hes so pretty and cheeky , i want him!"

me - oh -:( slightly embarassed silence - thats not the picture in H&H [ which showed a rather nice 16hhish irish hunter]
seller - very apologetic - mix up with picture - do you still want to try it
[ it was & is a giant 17hh freak]
me - oh why not - seeing as how we're here now
I thought i wanted a 16hh hunter - it seemed that what i wanted was this

I'm ashamed to say it was something like 'he's grey' and then something about me not liking him and prefering the bay... in my defence he was in a hell of a state and me being 11 at the time with 38 ponies in a field to choose from (and hating greys) I did not want a pony like him at all (a 2 and a half year old going through an ugly stage aswell as everything else...) but I have had him 5 years in 12 days time :D

"Blimy, big jump but lots of attitude. Knows what he wants." He was only 3 so put in the menage loose to see his paces. did one lap jumped the 5ft gate (no exageration up to my shoulders) and ran back to his stable where we found him totally relaxed and happily munching his hay!!

Oh. He was soaked, bedraggled, filthy, covered in bot eggs and ticks-euw!

For about 6 weeks, I thought I'd got the wrong horse! I rode him and was told he was the right 'stamp' of horse for me ie ploddy, safe. Turns out he's forward, willing, tries hard, fast, cheeky, a right little monkey sometimes! Definitely the horse for me!

C, how the hell do you get Ruby so darn clean?!
