Bored and curious really.
At the moment Hovis clears 2ft 6" fairly easily but hasn't yet got the control between jumps to go clear consistantly.
Whats the kind of height those of you with the thicker set types have been jumping at?

2'9" to 3' for my ID cross, but happiest at 2'6" to 2'9" (or was that mummy????)

Does Genie count?

She's jumped 3'3 (not with me!), but the biggest I've done with her is 2'9, which she clears easily. We are also working on the control aspect!

my 15hh HW cob can jump 3'3 thats the highest i have jumped him but i still think he could go higher he loves it and just keeps going a friend did once jump him over 3'6

I used to compete my ID upto 1.10, but in one particular lesson my instructor decided to stick all the jumps up to the top of the wings (1.50!!) get on my horse and proceed to show me that my horse was very capable by neatly popping round every single one and it was just me that wasn't

I am sure though he wouldn't have been able to compete at that level, I think my instructor was trying to show me that I was excessively worrying about the height of the fences, when in fact I had all the tools but not the jewels to jump bigger

I met a lovely Shire x Arab at the weekend (3/4 shire). I asked the owner about jumping - she said she tried him at 2'9" as he hasn't seen a jump in a while and he knocked a whole course down. Put the jumps up and he cleared 3' and up to 3'6" quite happily.

Ive been competing my horse who is a full Irish draught regulurly at about 1m untill he is fully mature as he is only 6 but im looking to do alot of bsja with him up to about 1.30 1.40 hopefully

Stinky is now clearing 2'9 with ease and I have no doubt that he will do 3'3 or higher. He is about to go and do his first 2'3 class next month (hopefully).

Farra - well she is doing 2'6 and when she realises where her legs are will easily do 3'.

Jemima my very heavy gypsy mare would fly 3' with me.

Cairo, bless him would do 3'3 and happily a XC course of 2'9 - 3' in his younger days.

What I don't do with the heavies is jump on hard ground or too often as they do have talent but also a lot of weight for the legs.

Both our clydes have adored jumping - Farra if you leave a fence up in the school will go and jump over it by herself for fun without you even being in the school, she loves it so much. Just go to hope that her joy of jumping will be matched by talent.

There was an aussie guy a few years back that had a clydesdale (might have been shire) cross, that was jumping internationally. It was doing 1.60 classes.

iv seen an ISH with plenty of irish draft jump and win a puissance at 7 feet he would have made 2metre 20 if the ground wasnt as bad too....iv also seen full irish drafts pop around a course at 4 feet...
