My niece has asked for a show rug/cooler for her birthday. I asked what colour but she asked me to choose. Oh the pressure

My chance of getting it right are so remote -fashion obsessed 19 year old!

Horse is bay if that helps

NB sorry it can't be pink

The poor horse would look like a giant blamanche lol

Navy blue always looks nice - may not be too fashionable, but then she won't need to buy another one too quickly! Plus you can always get stuff to match or contrast with navy without too much trouble - numnahs, bandages, boots etc. I have a bay and a grey and everything is navy! Old school uniform colour I suppose

green or blue!

there are some lovely coolers/show rugs which are baby blue with navy piping, or vice versa.......

blues are always around so would never go "out of fashion" which is obv good if you are shelling out for one!

I'd have a look around to see what is available and what is actually smart, rather than looking for a specific colour as then you might be tempted to get it just because of the colour, even if the colour is a funny tone or shade. I think that more classic, traditional colours tend to look better and don't go out of fashion, particularly if they are of decent quality. So i'd agree that a navy or burgundy would look smart with a nice trim colour. I had a black fleece with a gold (or silver - i forget )piped trim for my black mare and IMO that looked really smart and classic.
