I paid £350 for my boy at 3. I had been breaking him in for a friend and absolutely fell in love with him.
A year later at 4.5yo and he is fast becoming an allrounder. This year have taken him SJing, Intro dressage, a farm ride and yesterday his first hunt.
I love him to pieces, it's a struggle at times and I'm learning everyday but he was worth every penny.
Sounds fantastic. I have decided on a youngster now. Preferably one to break in myself. I have my head and heart at odds though. My heart still hankers after the WBs and TBs. My head says get something that you can still get on from the ground in 15 years time!
We bought a pony as a 2yr old that the owner was going to have put down as she was ugly. We paid £1 for her! My mum broke her in, I got to ride her for a couple of months before leaving home for a new job. She was 14.2 and Mum sold her for £1500. She went on to compete county level sj. She was the most genuine little mare, I just wish I had been younger to be able to compete her. We also bought a 14hh 2 yr old a few years later for £800, we broke that and then sold it on - it went and competed internationally PC eventing. There are some super cheap horses out there at the mo - I know I'm looking for youngster and there's a lot out there. Good luck and look forward to seeing the pictures of what you get
