Whats the liklihood of Gatcombe running?

I would tentatively venture that it's unlikely, I've heard grumblings from my seasoned eventer friend that they're very precious about their ground, but don't quote me on that! Seems unlikely if the weather as it is sticks around anyway :/
 
We're there Saturday and Sunday and I'm not getting too excited about it at the moment as also think unlikely that it will run! It has been so wet this weekend and the forecast is continuing showers throughout the week...not looking too hopeful!
 
If it stays as wet as it is now, I agree with the above, unfortunately. The mess they made last year just trying to set up the marquees etc etc was unbelievable, before you even think of getting horseboxes in, moving emergency vehicles about, and horses on the course...
praying for drier weather!
 
I am stabling there the night before. I am so excited by entire family (no kidding) is coming down to support so if it cancels I hope it cancels in good time!
 
Gatcombe 2005: travelled down on the wed. for friday pony trial. Stabled 2 nights, turned up to the event on the friday morning to be told the PT sections were cancelled. I thought the woman on the gate was joking, honestly.

Drove onto the field easily and off again and headed home 6 hours. Totally gutted.

That afternoon they ran the day before dressage for saturday novice sections.

Vowed not to go back but did the following year and it was fine, despite raining all night.
 
I'm there for the first run of the season with one and I think its unlikely. I live 20 minutes away and ditches are full, fields are wet (although mine have poor draining anyway) and as its the estate they're unlikely to take a chance with it. We had rain Friday afternoon and all day Saturday, snow/sleet yesterday morning. If it stays dry all week we may be in with a chance but weather forecast doesn't sound too great. Fingers crossed though.
 
I've just looked at the weather forecast for Minchinhampton:

Monday - a few showers
Tuesday - snow showers
Wednesday - showers
Thursday - showers
Friday - rain
Saturday - rain
Sunday - showers
Monday (!!) - oh look the sun is going to come out...typical!
 
I think it will go ahead providing it doesn't rain too much more, the ground is well drained up there. Fingers crossed for all entered!
