I have agreed subject to vetting to purchase pony. However, my foot will not be out of bandages till the 14th April and off crutches till the 28th April. Sellers have agreed to hold on to him- but have not requested a deposit or anything- I am worried they will get fed up of waiting and sell on. Whats the longest you have waited for new pony? Or for sellers- the longest you have held onto one for new buyers?

I picked up my yearling just over 3 weeks after seeing him at the breeders, as due to work I couldn't pick him up earlier. However she was more than happy to hold on to him for me and actually taught him pressure/ release, pick up feet, put rugs on and took him out for a few walkies in that time! If they know your serious and have a verbal agreement I'm sure it shouldn't be a problem

i would personally get him vetted and pay for him if they are will to keep him. i would not expect them to keep him without a deposit or anything till said date and then you want him vetted etc after this.

i would be happy to keep pony for a buyer if pony was paid for

i brought a yearling last jan and he is still down in cornwall now a 2yo, but i paid for him in full and pay for him to be there on grass keep.

Definitely agree with immybrook_stud. Get the pony vetted and paid for asap, then the sellers will probably be happy to hang on to him for you until you are ready to have him. But offer to pay livery for him and get him insured. I sold a horse some years ago - people came at the end of November and asked that I keep him until the new year as they were on holiday and away for Christmas. But they paid me in full and I was happy to hang on to him for them. If I were the seller and you didn't get the pony vetted and paid for, I would assume you weren't interested and would still regard the pony as being for sale.

I agree with others, get him vetted and at least a good deposit put down, because it would be awful for you if the seller got an offer from someone else.

I have booked in a vetting but earliest they can do is thursday/friday next week which is the 10th/11th I think so not really much sooner than I am out of crutches- not willing to pay for ponio untill passed vetting. We have viewed him and my instructor went to see him today so hopefully they will see that we are keen!

A month, I did put down a 10% deposit after the 1st week though, I also offered to pay livery, he was only 10 months old & at the breeders yard, I think she appreciated the offer though refused to take any thing for his keep in that month.

I took Thumper home the day I bought him.

Why not buy the horse and pay for the sellers to keep him for you until you can have him?
