Hello!!

Well I am very spoilt and have been taken to the Alps for a weeks skiing (been here since Sunday) and although I am having a lovely time, it's the longest I have been away from my horse (I have seen him everyday since June 14th!!) and it feels really strange!! Missing him massively!!

So what's the longest you have gone without seeing your horses??

Also whilst I'm away what's the weather like in Glos?? Thankies!!

18 months whilst I worked in australia, he was looked after by my sister and mum. I entered an ODE 2 weeks after my return (he was 7 at the time) and unsuprisingly fell off  :D

had him 11 years - longest without seeing him, 2 weeks while in cuba. didn't like it, but we both survived - have a fab holiday :D

7 months when I went travelling 10 years ago. More recently its been 2 days! I get withdrawl symptoms if I don't see her, but am lucky that my mum helps look after them.

in hospital at the moment. saw him before i came in yesterday (am not in hospital due to horse related infliction!) & am hopeing i will be allowed out for a bit next weekend to see him so will be 10 days. longest since i bought him but i know he is being well looked after!

Longest has been 3 weeks when on a business trip to the U.S. It was a killer! I was so worried being so far away in case something bad happened to her :(

2nd longest was two weeks when I went on my honeymoon, apart from that in 18 years I have only been apart from her for a matter of days.

Up until recently I kept her on full livery for the last 10 years 30 miles from my home and I only got to see her 1 or 2 times a week due to work commitments/distance but now I have her only two miles from home I make a point of visiting her every day to spend some quality time with her and I only wish so much I took the plunge and moved her so much sooner.

I LOVE seeing her every day :o:)

2 weeks when I went to London for a uni summer school it wasn't helped by texts from my Dad most days to say how much fun he had had taking her for a gallop at the beach!

5 days when i was at Badminton (couldnt get there the day before as mum was working) but went up the night we got back as i missed him so much :p :) I also hate other people doing him, as (i know it sounds silly) I always get back and find things done differently to how i do them - silly things like haynets being tied at the front of the stable, so it falls through the railings and onto all of my things outside which get covered in hay, amount of feed often increases, general colour of bedding is usually slightly brown (all the bedding has to be totally clean :o), feet not always picked out, turned out without boots etc etc, Yes... im very very fussy, and totally over the top!! However if we ever did go on holiday or anything, i wouldn't doubt the care of him, just my OCD would be crazy when i got back :p

That's kind off how I feel at the moment, I know he wi be well cared for, but it's just not the same!! I lie in bed pondering what has been dome differently!! I doubt he will notice the difference!! I'm fairly certain he is being spoilt rotten!!

2 weeks. It was the longest time of my life worrying about him ;) The thing is he is quite a dope on a hack and a couple of times the YO has gone for a hack and told me afterwards that she has taken a friend (who is very novice) out on him without letting me know  One time I caught her and the said friend was wrenching him round :( Now his tack is locked at home and he is locked in field. Apparently I overreacted but I was absolutely livid she took him...If she had of asked I would probs have said yes anyway! It didn't affect him at all but what if something had of happened....I would have killed YO!!!

Three and a half weeks when I was in Australia. I go on 2 week holidays most years.

When I go away my best friend looks after them, along with her own, plus my cats and dogs. I trust her implicitly, know she would do the right thing by them in any circumstance. Likewise when she is away, I look after hers (all kept at my place).

I never worry about them. We have a rule. If any animal dies (horse, cat, dog) whilst we are on hol, the other must not be told until they come home. We both know what we want done with them. Never happened so far, but was discussed again at length before she left for NZ at beginning of Nov, as one of her cats was nearing the end. Fortunately he made it until she came home.

In fact, I quiet enjoy my break, and I think they do too.

three and a half weeks when i went to australia.. i loved the holiday but went off signal in the outback and convinced myself something terrible had happened to him. We got off the plane and i insisted on seeing him before going home. the first day i got home he was pretty uninterested but went crazy when he saw me the second day. As i say i loved the holiday but i really did have to stop myself from stalking his stand in mum!

When Dylan was alive, the longest I didn't see him for was 10 days, and that was last year when I went on holiday with OH. One of my friends took care of him for me :)

Didn't you send him to a pro rider for a few months?

since april of this year, i only get to see my horses every 6 - 12 weeks as i'm abroad with OH for work :( before then the maximum time away from them would have been about 10 days!

I do know that both horses are being very well looked after though with excellent riders on board, so I don't need to worry. Has taught me not to be so OCD about them, which is probably a good thing ;)

Similar to HH, I'm working abroad currently and haven't seen my boy since 22nd November :( It could be another month too, though I'm hoping to get back for a weekend before that! He's having a lovely time getting fat and hairy and I know he's well looked after, so I miss him a lot but I don't tend to worry about him.

Just under a week - go on hols for a week each year so leave them for that! Miss them so much, but the break is really lovely too.

Weather in glos is just horrible, you are missing nothing at all! Gone back to being chilly (about 2 deg this am!) and is raining, has been all day so far and absolutly chucked it down overnight.

Enjoy your hols!
