What's the maximum personal accident insurance available?

Hi all

I am looking at the level of personal accident insurance I have through PetPlan and BHS and am stunned at how low the maximum payments are. Should I have a 'serious' accident or die the maximum payment is £15,000 - not very much in the scale of things - if looking at permanent disability and not being able to work.

I wondered if any of you could post your maximum insurance for 'personal accident' cover and perhaps say which insurance company you are with.

Generally a horse PA cover will be somewhere between £10K and £20K as a capital benefit ie pays the lump sum if you lose a limb/are permanently disabled.They do not generally pay weekly sort of benefits. Really they are quite limited in the cover they provide BUT your are only probably paying £10 to £20 a year for it. If you want better cover you would need to look at a more comprehensive PA policy that you can maybe tailor a bit more to your specific needs - ie one that pays you out for temporary disablement, like if you seveerly broke or damaged something and could not work as a result.

There are plenty of personal PA policies out there. The ones sold with equine insurance are just quite basic.

Thanks for the reply. I admit I didn't really look into it in much detail until it was mentioned at the yard that instructors should have insurance and it was argued by some that we are all covered by our own insurance.
